I am not 100% sure about the 240's set up but if it is anything like my 280 there is a swim platform and some unused transom space above the platform. That may be a spot to put speakers and protect them from the backwash/ waves in the stern. I
t is funny because I was just having this conversation with a friend of mine who saw it on a cruiser. Obviously it was a different application but it allowed the boat to play music directly where you want it, in the water where youy are hanging out, and not all over the place because you have to crank it up so loud to hear it. He seemed to think that having well placed speakers in the transom could cut down on noise complaints. I just don't think it is a bad idea. And there is no such thing as it can't be done in my book!!! I have actually thought about putting mounts for my DJ speakers in the boat several times. Then I think about it and I would only use it a couple times a year. I have decided that I will just put some speakers that face back on the dash. |
Well I had been thinking about putting speakers in my swim platform for a couple years. I knew there was not much space between the panel on the platform and the top of the transom, plus the fact of having the speakers so exposed. But we do like to spend alot of the time sitting listening to the stereo while in the water. So I just had held off doing it.
This thread made me consider it some more. I still was hesitant about doing it, but then I sit and think how loud I have to run the system when we are out in the water. You can hear my system pretty well when you crank it up, but having speakers in the back would make it easier on the system not having to turn it up as loud, and my batteries would last longer. So talked to the wife and she liked the idea. So here you go, you can get a set in the platform on a 280. I still would never install speakers on a flat transom like the outlaws, but for boats with a platform like mine it can be done. http://s1087.photobucket.com/albums/...27_640x480.jpg |

Well got a chance to listen to the system today. My radio goes up to 30, and most of the time listening to it while in the water I have it at 22 - 25. With the new speakers we were listening to it at 10. Makes a world of difference/

Looks real good. I still think I'm going to get portable speakers to jam when were at the sand bars, then just tuck them away when not in use.

I don't remember what all we hooked up in your boat. I know we had the 2 sets of 6.5" behind the bolsters, and there was the set of 6x9's in front of them. Were there any others that we hooked up? If we did then you would really need another amp. |
