Anyone ran a bravo 1 22p on an h2x
I currently have a 23 mirage plus on my 7.4 mpi takes a bit to get on plane when loaded and runs about 62 on top at 4300rpm. I'm new to boating but it seems to me it carries the bow a little high at speeds and gets a little unpredictable at times in the chop was wondering if a 22 p bravo would be worth a try? I can pick one up for 350 and was wondering what kind of changes I would experience?
Thanks Larry |
My buddy ran a 23p mirage and it took a mile to get on plane with 4 people, you had to use tabs. He switched to a 22p bravo one and it shoots out of the hole. He said he loves it. Call Bblades and try one out on their test program, you'll know for sure then.

Does the H2X have trim tabs? if so drop them just a bit and it will ride a lot better at wot, may scrub a mph or 2 though.
|
I would consider trying a bravo 1 24p of a 22p. Will keep the bow down some and drasticly speed up getting on plane time.
|
It does but the tabs scrub off a ton of speed!

If your only running 4300 you need to go to a 21 mirage plus.. A 22 Bravo will get you out of the hole quicker and a faster cruise speed but I don't think your engine will turn the correct rpm unless it is labbed..
The 24 you have now is it 3 or 4 blade? |
I have the 23 pitch mirage plus that was factory original to the boat. The motor is complete rebuilt and fresh with about 25 hours on it
|
What rpm was the engine turning before the rebuild?
If the 23 reached the proper rpm with the old engine then something tells me that the new one isn't making the power that the old one was!!:cartman: If it was rebuilt back to stock there is no reason for it to only be making 4300 with the same prop!!! Idk I would think the fresh motor would make a little more power just sayin!!!!! Who did the engine work????? |
Bought the boat and the motor was toast would only run about 50 mph and would barely reach 4000 rpm now runs 62 at 4300 and has a pretty decent pull through the midrange some have said the tach could be off? But I am seeing full rpm 4300 at 3/4 throttle and not gaining anything when I pin it. I checked the linkage and it is opening up 100% motor was rebuilt by a machine shop in Dayton and put back together at dry dock boat repair in Cincinnati

Out of curiosity, if you leave it in neutral how high can you take the rpms up to? The 7.4 rev limiter is set at 4600, just wondering if it can get there in neutral....
|
Haven't tried it but I will
|
Any danger with reding this engine to 4600 in neutral?
|
The first thing you need to do is make sure the tach is reading correctly!!
You also really need to make some calls and find out what camshaft was used!! What ever the max rpm is for the cam is what I would shoot for in propping the boat or atleast within 200rpm's anyway..EI. if the max is 5400 for the cam prop the boat at 5200.. If you know for sure that the stock camshaft was used then prop the boat at 4800!! Was this a Mag engine? I know that they can turn 5000 easily, if it was the 330hp I think those were 4800 maybe 4600 not positive.. I would see if anyone could loan you a 21 mirage stick it on and see if the rpm's change if they don't it's a good indication that the tach needs replaced!!! |
im having a 21p mirage plus shipped to me on monday. when it comes your more than welcome to try it out one day when im not out. im on the east side of cincinnati
|
Thanks I would really appreciate it. I'm on the east side as well live in Anderson and boat is at rivertowne
|
thats cool!!!! Can't wait to see how the 21 works out!!
