I'd give the guy points for having fun with the add and if interested in the rig, I would certainly call! Seems like some of the "options" on this boat are "over the top" and this is an interesting way to market them :-)

I didn't catch the marina being represented, but I suspect a search on this may shed some light on things :-)

I know that boat. It's a nice boat. Not sure what all has been done to it since I seen it last.

It's a nice looking piece, probably sell for a good chunk, stereo looks pretty killer, nice install.

I noticed that too, also wondered wny a boat that new would need 2 complete long blocks replaced.

Spoke with seller, seems like a real guy, he needs 65K out of it, looks like it could use a good clean up, but, not a bad boat from what I can see

Ok, the boat has been under the water. That was the reason for new motors. When my friend had it, the lift it was on broke and it sank. It was under water probably about 10 hours before they could get it up.

Good to know! Especially since it wasn't mentioned in the ad or videos that it sank. I think that would affect price too.

If someone is super interested in it. I might be in that area in the next few days. Let me know and I would go by and look at it.

Myself, I would pass, especially at 65K, I have a phobia of boats that have sunk, just a personal opinion, Appreciate the offer though!

^^^ yep 65K for a sunk boat that has been re done, sounds a little high. Another 2002 33' baja owner near me picked his up for 42k this passed spring. Now it dosent have a huge sound system in it but has plenty of go fast added to it... 74 mph on the stock 496's

If it was in good shape 42K for an 02 is a really good deal, I do agree that 65K is a pile of dough for a boat that sunk, no matter how fancy the stereo is, Maybe if had a pair of 500/525EFI's but, with stock 496's it seems pretty steep. Especially when you shop around and see what that kind of money buys. Having said that, he claims he "needs" 65K, that doesn't necessarily mean he won't end up selling it for considerably less, especially if/when word gets out that it sunk.

Why does everyone leave out the "sunk" detail, someone was selling a TS gun last week with the same issue but boat was "mint" so it was ok... wtf

OK, probably a dumb question, but why would a broken lift result in a sunken boat? ...isn't the purpose of a boat to float? :eekdrop:

Do boats on lifts generally have plugs pulled? or would the lift have damaged the hull?

I think their may be a lesson to learn here and I unfortunately don't know what it is?

I have seen it happen twice, first on was during a bad storm in the gulf, storm surge caused water levels to rise to "flood" levels. Boar rose to the height of the "roof" of the lift and couldn't "float" any higher, water kept rising and basically "pushed" the boat under water.

2nd time the rear cable broke, boats stern slid backwards into the water, but, the bow area stayed on the forward bunk, because of the angle, water poured in at the back of the engine hatch, eventually the weight of the water pulled the bow off, and the boat was floating, but, at that point there was already so much water in the boat it was swamped and kept taking on water, it was an older fountain and the transom sat low in the water to begin with, had it been a cruiser with a little more freeboard it might have been OK

I remember that thread, seller threatened to sue the board members who "outed" the fact the boat had sank, sounded like a real tool. Eventually I think the ad was pulled of EBay

After some more thought, I doubt I would pay 1/2 of the asking price, there is just TOO much stuff that can be damaged with a sunk boat. Nothing worse than chasing electrical gremlins that are "water" related.

Yikes - my older rig sits really low in the water too, good to know. Makes me think of a big a*s bilge pump.

As to your first example my old house was susceptible to water in the basement so I had a "water bug" installed. It hooked into the alarm system and would call me whenever it detected water at a certain level. Is this my chance at a million $ idea or might something like this already exist...heck when bad weather blows through I always want to check the boat out :-) ....it would also be nice when sleeping on the boat to know if it is sinking LOL

UPDATE - i just did a quick check and saw that there are audible bilge alarms, wonder if the have an option to call you?

last week i was at the beach and saw a guy with snorkeling gear searching an area for a few hours so finally i asked him what was up? he says he sunk his freestyle jetski a few days earlier and was trying to find it but hadnt had any luck yet.

Well low and behold what do you think i see pop up on craigslist a few days ago, freestyle jetski and the same truck i saw them loading all there gear into in the background of the pic, no mention of it being underwater for several days and the word "mint" was in the ad.......

I messaged the guy on eBay asking details on the boat. Even asked if it sank and if that's when the engines had to be replaced. The first response was "o". I then replied that I could not understand what that means... His next response was "-". Wtf?!?!?

Not sure if they make one that calls you, but, I wouldn't be surprised. The problem is, you need to be "close", the fella that had the cable break lives 3 hours from the cottage where he keeps the boat, even if the alarm had gone off, by the time he got there MOST of the damage would probably have been done, however the boat probably wouldn't have sat underwater until the following weekend when he showed up.

What would have worked even better is if one of the snooty neighbours nearby could have taken 2 mins to call him and let him know the lift broke, funny, they always "just happen" to be at the end of the dock when he takes the boat out, but, where NO WHERE to be found when the damn thing was sinking. Heck if it was me I would go over in a storm and try to save the thing even if I DIDN"T know the guy, just common courtesy.

Pretty sad, eh? Makes it tough for "legit" sellers who take care of there stuff to sell. I remember years ago in my drag racing days I was looking at a Pro Street car, guy claimed it had NEVER been raced, so, a buddy of mine and myself drove over to have a look at it, well, this guy brings out a big azz photo album of the car, the build, the chassiswork, etc. towards the end are 2 pics of the car at Cayuga [now Toronto Motorsports Park] at the starting line with smoke pouring off the slicks........

I said to him: "I thought you NEVER raced this thing?"

He answered: "I DIDN'T it was just a "time trial" day"

........Needless to say, I didn't buy it, lol
