Anyone upgrade your docking lights? Any HID retrofits? This is on my 25 Outlaw...

Thanks

I'm interested in this also. I was thinking about ordering some LED bulbs myself as it would be plug&play.

You find a LED bulb to fit? if nothing else the stock lights have a BIOG draw.

Looking at mine Im guessing there a H3 bulb, but not 100% . I am also planning on installing HID's in mine once I get to the actual bulb since they work awesome in my Escalade for the fogs.

It looks like I have to go threw the Cuddy and remove the very front mirror to gain access to the bulb.

I should be able to get to mine thoguht the anchor locker, but MAN is that a horrible way to get to it

as the fiber glass goes around teh anchor blocks alot.

Its on the list. When I get the boat out for the year, I'm planning on pulling a bulb out to use for ordering an LED replacement from SuperBrightLEDs.com. I've had great luck using their stuff before. I don't want HIDs because it'd be a waste since you can't run with them on and they take a couple minutes to fully warm up/get bright. The LEDs bulbs run cooler, full brightness instantly, and just plug in place of the standard bulbs. They definitely have to be better than the factory crappy dim bulbs I have now.

HIDs have a pretty light draw usually 35 watts, but becarefull, they throw some serious voltage. I was building a set for a bike and had a tiny bit of exposed wire at a connection I didnt realize. Holy mother of god, the shock from it sent me across the garage. Normal 12v dc wont do that unless your buried in salt water. so be carefull. also with a retrofit, depending on what you have you may have to mount balast and ignitors someplace. system I used was from a licoln navigator and I just machined a base adaptor for the light housings. If you go this route which is pretty simple cheap and easy with junkyard parts make sure when building the adaptor you get the depth right on the arc vs filament

I have a few of these on my truck and they are awesome: http://www.rigidindustries.com/

I don't know if you could make any of them work in a docking light housing, but might be worth looking into. Tim G. turned me on to them when he was at Deep Impact.
