99 Outlaw 25 Audio questions

Ok so i just purchased a 99 outlaw with a procharged 496 and it only has 102 hours on it so needless to say its spotless, but has the original audio.

Where would be the best place to mount the amp without causing overheating issues? I was considering the wall next to the seat in the cabin (opposite side of front passanger seat)

Also any recommendations on subs or Components? Ive had Alpine before and love them, not to mention the amps are small and easy to mount

Thanks for the help

I had mine on the inside of the cabin. If I remember correctly mine were on the passenger side because the cabin door slides toward the drivers side. All the stereo is on the passenger side also. But like I said it's been 8 years since I sold it, so I could be wrong. I will look for some pictures and post them once I find them.

I would highly recommend mounting the amps on the wall of the cabin to the left of the door as you walk in (port side). Mine unfortunately was mounted under the rear bench and it would constantly overheat and cut out. I sold the boat before I had a chance to move them.

As far as components, I went with Polk/Momo stuff in mine and had good results but as with anything, people have the brands they like the most. Good luck with the install.

P.S. - the cutouts in my 25 Outlaw behind the bolsters were barely big enough to fit the stock Clarion speakers, I had to widen the holes to fit the Polks. I also fabricated some spacers to give a little more clearance behind the speakers. (see pics)

Any pics of your boat?

Kicker square subs will fit in the bench with a box. They hit pretty good.

ok electrical guys....so heres what im wanting to do, under the rear or on this sides i want 3 Alpine Type-r 10inch, 3 sets of the Alpine type-r 7inch 2 way speakers. What amp combo and ohm rating would you go with and why? I was thinking 4-ohm on everything but im open to ideas......id also like a 2farad capacitor to save on the batteries

Nightlife1970 03-06-2013 05:53 PM

First you would have to go with 2 or 4 subs. The Alpine amps, and just about any digital amps out there will not run that load. I din't know of any 6 ohm marine subs. If there is they are probably JL and expensive as heck.

The three set's of 7" is no problem, just run one set off of two channels of a 4 channel amp, then run the other 2 sets off of the other two channels at a 2 ohm load.

A cap will not save your batteries. All they do is discharge power faster than a battery does. Really only need them when you are running high current amps.

Ok so lets say i go with 4 10's . Either under the rear seat or one placed somewheres else.....

Hey nightlife are you the one that did the install on my Orange 20ft outlaw? City sounds about right. I was looking for your contact info but must have deleted the emails.

I have 2, 800 watt amps in cabin on passenger side wall, at first they would over heat but I made some trick little polished stainless spacers so they could get some air behind them and have not had any problms since. I also put a small bazooka sub under the passenger side cabin seat, I'm not one to like to cut a bunch of holes. JMO

Yours looks pretty nice as well. Yours looks like one that could keep up with me in bass. I think I got you on power though, I got a whole 209 watts.

xxxtreme36 03-08-2013 08:00 AM

WOW, that kicker set up looks like quite the set up for an H2X. Great work guys. I know from what i seen on that 280 when i was there it was incredible as well. Ill send you an email and we can start putting together a shopping list and some ideas. Do you think alpine is the way to go again or should i go a diff route?

xxxtreme36 03-08-2013 08:02 AM

Also where are you doing your work now? Looks like a polebarn from the pics but wasnt sure if you where still in the same spot.
