38 Special

Hey guys i have a customer that has a 96 (i think) 38 Baja Special that i am trying to help put a value on. He purchased the boat about a year ago with maybe a hundred fifty original hours on it and except for some deck gel issues it is in fantastic shape. The boat sat shrink wrapped for several years and it has some blistering where the cover was up against it, not a big deal but still an issue. The boat runs well and the cabin and cockpit are mint plus since he has had it the engines have been professionally looked and assessed any potential issues from sitting (had all pumps and lines replaced fuel and water, Merc fuel system updater, etc. . . ) no trailer but otherwise ready to go. Mid to low 40's is what he would like out of it, does that sound right? he is wanting to move up to ??? and is motivated

(mods my intention was to assess the value but if this is to close to an add i understand if ya gotta pull it  i am getting some pics this week to get a classified up. thanks)

What power? Genset? Mid 40's should move it.

I would think it would move at that price

454 Mag EFI's no gen set but i think it does have AC. Its actually a pretty nice boat that just needs some gel work on the deck and maybe a re fresh of the stripe colors (faded and dated a bit but the buff up nice).

The 454's and no gen set will bring it down some considering the damage. Scrapes and bumps are one thing, blistering another. I think I would give it a go at that price and a broad spectrum of advertising. With a trailer would make it easier to push along.

I agree regarding the trailer. I picked mine up last year for$22,000. I has supercharged 540's but one of them was siezed up. Has a 5KW Kohler genset A/C, etc. It was sitting on a triple axle steel trailer and is the typical pink/teal 1993 Sonny Crokett starter kit. I have gone through both engines, electrical, control cables, etc. and have about $40K in it. The hull is in good condition. I would price mine at $53K if I was looking to sell

JV - Get the cables? All good?

I'm actually listing it for a friend. he's a good guy just not up on the details of the boat. I can handle questions about it better.

The thing that will make it a hard sell is the outdated colors.
This one is in very good condition and was for sale for quite a while and finally traded in http://www.pier57.com/web/used/Baja-...inois/8365297/
