33OL jump seats/cooler seats
1 Attachment(s)
My 33ol doesnt have the quad bolsters but I didn't really want them taking up all that room..
I would like to add/buy/build some seats behind the front bolsters for the kids. Removable, Light... even could use cooler cushions.. searched web with not to much luck.. I do have access to alum material/welding and could make cushions for a folding seat.. Any ideas or has anyone done this??? Coolers would be easy b/c they could use sidewall as backrest, but would have to anchor to floor.. cooler supports would be in the way if coolers werent in there???? thanks |

Have actually thought about this. How about a bolster back that could clamp onto the existing bolster? There would be no base to it. Just have a couple legs that would stand on the floor with rubber feet the back of a bolster and then some way to clamp it on to the existing bolster. You would then just climb over it to get in it. Then you have the handles on the back of the front bolsters to hang onto and the support of the bolster back.
no seat? facing backwards? |

am I understanding you?
no seat? facing backwards? I have thought about it on my boat, because when I have 4 people on a run the wife would like to stand instead of sit. With a setup like I am thinking you could just take it in and out as needed, and still have room to use the bench seat as well. |

No imagine like a 4 bolster setup, with the second bolster right behind the front bolster. You just jump into the hole to get in.

With a setup like I am thinking you could just take it in and out as needed, and still have room to use the bench seat as well. i.e. we normally take trips to Ship Island. 4-5 adults and numerous kids. Some sit on laps (2yr old) and some sit in cabin. would like to have small bench seats that could prob fit 2 of thier lil butts behind each bolster. Like I could use 54qt ice chests with cushion and put them long ways agains the side as back support. then handrail behind bolster. anyone think the sidewall could hold weight?? i.e. hinge that seat folds down with front legs that fold out and act as front support? |

ok... that would be good for adults, but I really want to have seats.. Really just for the kids when we have another family with us. adults get bench and bolsters and then by ourselves we can take out fold down... something...

Have a metal frame made to clamp onto bolsters. Make it big enough so the seat could flip up and put a cooler under it. I don't think I would want kids sitting on something that was unsupported. Basicaly make your bench into a U-shape seating.

Be cool maybe to find the wrap around back seat from a 342 and incorporate it into the back somehow...

Make them sit on coolers, and hang on. Lots of work, and mounted stuff hurt resale. not money as you got a smoking deal, but time on market with some crazy home made bench seats would be a hard sell.
in a year or 2 they will be standing up with you. Just my 2 cents from the other side of the internet. The 342 U shapped seating could be made ot fit though, and would look factory. |
hey mittens!!
aren't you supposed to be at the beach by now!!! lucky b(*)&^ :lolhit: do you have a pic of your seating.. dont know if I would go thru all of that, but curious how yours looks as I never made it that way! oh.. homemade.... they would look good.. my Fleet mgr used to be a welder before he started driving big rigs :) I conveniently added welding supplies to our lil shop in case "I" had a project to weld alum.. Also have a good friend who can supply me with cutoffs of alum tubing. And then I would polish the legs (all tubing with disks/rubber on bottom to distribute weight) Then polish... but with all that... yes, easier with coolers! may end up that route... |

Since it is basically the same boat...they should fit somehow... Here is a generic pic of one. I know there were a few options as some had the sink behind the psngr. bolster so the U-Shape was shorter on the port side then the stbd side if I remember right. Hit up XT and see what options he can come up with. If you do something I'd keep it as factory looking as possible so it flows. etc... JMO

Prob just need to get the cooler seats.. more space for beer.. ( food can go in fridge) |
Mine is like this on both sides. I have the stait bench, which is what I wanted, for floor space. So i assume its basicly what you have as well.
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...Ye91kyK4bRfe76 Hossman posed a pic of the FUll U shape seating. and there is one more set up avilivble. its call entertainment seating. its the one with the sink and the icemaker. (but you can do the seat part with out the icemaker.) http://www.boattest.com/images-galle...38-cockpit.jpg |
I like standing and using legs to absoarb waves. Understand where you are coming from though. I like some type of seat that faces backwards from the front bolster. Look at the 47 fountain, and 43 nortechs for some ideas.
You could have all the adults stand and kids sit. |

You could have all the adults stand and kids sit. Helm and co-pilots can opt to stand/sit. (Me stand!!) While rest wives can sit on bench holding lil ones. Then no modifying anything that would be permanent.. and taken out for our family and poker runs.. |
I think that's the best idea, and covers all your applications.

Here is what I found at west marine! All stainless parts and pre fit! ok.. cant turn from phone.. but got 2 nice seats ($270 caught on sale).. 74qt i think.. Just have to find some rubber mats (preferably white???) to put them on to stay put.. |
you can buy the 4 corner brackets that go in the floor to hold them in place. My friend has them on his 38 baja
|
yeah.. but I don't want to drill any holes.
I was searching online yesterday and found white rubber bath mats at wally world. So I may just try that (cut to fit if needed) and also put a large d-ring or something to hold the handle to the bolster for added security. |
I put my cooler behind my seat and just put a bungee strap around it and it always holds it in place.
|
What do you attach to? Bolster or around to gunnel?
|
I hook it to the bolster
