Baja 252 Islander with a 454 310 hp Motor?
Hey guys my search for a 232 or 252 islander is becoming much more challenging that I thought it was going to be. So far all the boats that I have been really excited about have been sold and all the others seem like the guys are making me a little nervous driving the distance and not getting what I was thinking it was going to be. I found a 2001 252 islander that looks like it is in pretty nice shape, they guy says the sunpad and cover will need some attention and he does not know how many hours are on the boat. The motor was replaced two years ago and has about 20 hours on it which is great but is a 454 mpi but not a mag, is that enough motor for this boat? I had a 232 boss with a 454 310 and it would not do anything better than 58 mph and was no speed demon out of the hole. Our lakes are not real big and a 25' boat is on the top of the spectrum for me, what do you guys think about this one?

310 is not enough power for a 252
|
Thanks, that was what I was thinking but I guess I just needed someone to agree, the search continues.

i tried tp post a link but it wont work from this site shoot me a PM and i can tell you where there is a nice 2000 modeld a 252 wiht a brand new 7.4 310hp, the owner just went bigger to a 29 outlaw . I had a 252 with a 502 i think this one would be a 52-55 mph boat they do ride nice and are great for a family boat that still has some style.

It really depends what you are looking to do with the boat. Inland lakes get really small at 70 MPH. We got our 232 for watersports, general rec, and for a nice ride when we have to come back across the big boat chop.

You can always put another motor in.......the possibilities are endless.

I did some more research on the boat and actually found the ad from the dealership this guy bought it from a couple years ago. According to the ad it is a mag, but it was from a dealership on the gulf so I assume it was a salt water boat which I do not want, between that and the fact it does not sound like the new owner really knows a whole lot about the boat I am going to keep looking for a 232, anyone have any leads? They seem few and far between, I am chasing one right now but the owners of that one sounds very uneducated on what they have as well and it would be a seven hour drive, not a big deal but I do not want to spend over a day of driving to be disappointed. I sold my boat last wednesday and this has been the first time during the summer I have not owned a boat so I am getting a little antsy to get back out and am nervous my boat lift is going to blow over with nothing on it.

What are you looking to spend? The two below seem OK and are semi close by. Graphics/Colors are always a super personal choice.
http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/9057 - I'd say a fair price, but you have to like Yellow. http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/21361 - Seems a little high, but might be room for movement. See if those owners can take 50+ pictures. You can also call SeaRay to have them verify the original options based on the HIN#. |

Looking for a performance open bow 23-27 foot with a big block. I've been looking at Baja Islanders, but am open to others. You guys know of anyone looking to sell one?
|
I had a 252 with a 454 Mag, and it was fine, I am sure a 454 MPI would be fine as well, just a little less top end. I dont think it would be underpowered ot say.
But anything can use more power! haha |

Do you have picture you can send of the boat? I am looking for 252 Islander and am located in St. Louis area. Is your boat a freshwater or saltwater boat? How many hours on the boat itself?
Thanks, Scott [email protected] |

I have a buddy that is looking at buying a new boat and will have his 1998 baja 252 islander for sale, it is an open bow boat with a 7.4mpi BBC with a procharger, corsa switchable exhaust, etc... and has been very well cared for and is a super clean fresh water only boat with 398 hrs and includes a nice matching eagle trailer. This all just now happening so he hasnt priced it yet, but probably going to be in the 21-23k range. PM me if interested.
