warning buzzer issue
I have a warning buzzer behind the dash going off randomly. I am pretty sure it was an issue for the previous owner (even though he says he knows nothing about it) since the buzzer has layers of black tape wrapped around it. Each time we have had the boat out at some time the buzzer will sound. This week we were in Lake Erie for 3 days boating and camping at East Harbor state park. On a nice quick blast out to Kelly's Island with 7 aboared all was fine till we throttled back then it stayed on most of the time. According to the gauge oil pressure was 40psi. Water temp was 170. What all does the system that this buzzer is hooked to monitor? It sounds for a second when you turn the key but goes off whether you statr the motor or not.
On a happier note the drive shower seems to have cured the overheating bravo 3 issue. |
The bilge pump doesn't seem to work and the bilge blower decided it didn't want to work anymore the 3rd day and now the drive is very inconsistent raising with just the trim switch. these items coupled with the known trim gauge not working and left trim tab gauge not working means I have a lot of work (and expense) ahead of me.

check your drive reservoir if it is low that will make the buzzer sound you can also disconnect one of the wires at the reservoir and see if that shuts it up if so you know where your problem is

I've had 2 alarms so far.
1. Low engine oil level. (during sea trials prior to purchase of the boat) Not sure what they did when they changed the oil but while running the level dropped. 2. Engine overheating. Would overheat during no wake zones or going really slow. Stopped when making way at decent speed. Found the impeller was chipped. Replaced the impeller and no more alarms. Watch your engine temp gauge. Check all your oil levels. Good luck. Nothing worse than buying a new toy and having a load of troubles. BTW, when I turn my keys, both engine alarms buzz until I crank them. |
Thanks for the replies. I will try unplugging the reservoir next time but I'm thinking it isn't the issue as it's half full. But, I will unplug it to find out. Thanks for telling me what I suspected, the buzzer on yours goes till motor is running.
