302 No forward Bilge pump see water in cuddy floor
 

So my 1999 302 has no forward bilge I can see water through the vent hole in the floor in the cuddy. it has not drained down for three days. I cut a three inch hole
where the breather hole was, fished around down in there I can feel a hole going to rear of boat but water will not drain. Has anyone had there
floor up and know of the drain configuration. I took the cap off over the gas tank still cant see anything. hoping not to take cockpit floor up...I tried pushing
a coat hanger around to free up debris but no luck any help would be great.

Do you not have a bilge pump under the step that goes down to your cuddy? My 2004 had a pump there, and if I remember correctly, there was not a drain that went from the cuddy area all the way to the bilge. If water got in the cuddy area, the mid-bilge pumped it out.

the drain in my 272 was glassed over which Baja had a problem doing that and i used a pry bar and a 3/8" socket extension to force thru the fiberglass so mine would drain

I cut the hole where the step would be to go into the cuddy. just cant feel anything out of place. I think there are drain tubes only as there is so forward bilge pump. I guess I have no choice but to pull the cockpit floor. I know I'm opening a can of worms!!!!

Mine traps water there too.

She got drenched twice this Summer in tropical downpours. I had to remove the cabin floor vents and rig a skinny hose to the shop vac. First time I got nearly 5 gallons out, second time only a couple.

It would be nice if you have pix to post of that area of the 272 gutted Ed. I'm thinking the fuel tank would limit access to that bulk head with the removable part of the cockpit sole up.

Now we know why Baja added mid ship pumps to several models around 2002.

That's what I was thinking, you're prolly wasting your time pulling the cockpit sole up. I'm thinking the cabin flooring will have to come out to gain access WHERE THE DRAIN SHOULD BE. Good Luck!

Your 302 should have a bilge pump under step going into cuddy. Drains to there then pumps out. I had to change mine. Feel in carpet for screws whole step comes out.

I finally found the four screws in my 232 step this weekend, they are definitly a chore to find. Tapping with a screwdriver helped me hear the screws through the carpet. I'm now considering getting a different pump down there; mine stays on with just a little water until it kills the battery. After a few rains and dead battery I had standing water in the cuddy floor.

I guess on the older 302's there is no forward bilge I also do no have a step going down into the cuddy. its a large step right to the floor from the cockpit.
I'm going to start taking it apart till I figure out how to fix drain holes.
