We have a 232 performance on Lk St Clair, if we didnt want to sleep on it here and there, the islander would have been great. We are pretty happy with ride quality of the 232, speed with the 6.2 in our boat isn't what you are looking for though. Will need the 496 Mag HO or 454 Mag for that.

Have to also look at how you will use the boat.

ya that's true but its got the 24deg dead rise, a set of k planes/ hydraulic steering and a factory bb right from the get go. plus they run around 70mph, no matter which route I go they are going to say I should of gone bigger.

I plan to use the boat as only a day boat, just something to jump across the pond on the weekends( roughly 13 miles) somewhere the gf can sit comfy in the sun and not get beat to bad on 1-3 foot waves. she is not such a fan of that size wave on the sea doo. lol if you had to stay on it the occasional night there would be room. where I would be keeping the boat my parents have a carver aft cabin with all the amenities so that would be home base. not having to worry about sleeping/ washrooms, food or storing anything.

as for budget I know this will make people wonder but I was looking in between 20-40 000. I was trying to stay around 20 so I could do some upgrades to the boat and if anything went wrong, I would have some cash to fix, but I guess if the right boat came along I would go up to 40 but if anything went wrong it wouldn't leave much to fix it

'95 24 outlaw, carbed 454, no k planes or hydro steering, 450 hours, back seat and sunpad have some ripped stitches the bolsters are fine though. 12k. You'd have plenty of cash left over.

hi..I'm new to the forum but I bought a 97 Hammer this spring, have about 12 hours on it myself, it is a 500+ hp boat, bought it like that and it will do low 80s. Anyway I guess it depends what you are doing with it, but must say so far I love mine, have had it in some moderate chop and didn't perform too bad, I guess it depends on what you are used to, I grew up getting beat on in small boats so a little bouncing around doesn't really bother me. Just wanted to say though they are a really fun boat for a day boat
