Selling my H2X

Not sure if I'm allowed to post this here without paying OSO, guess I'll find out...

I gotta sell my H2X before the season ends. It runs and looks like new. I'm asking $37,900 but I'm open to all offers. Here's a link to the ad. Dan

What do you guys think is a fair price assuming the boat is mint? I was told anything over 34k was a good deal, but comparable H2Xs go for closer to 39k.

Shooter 08-11-2002 10:15 AM

Depends how fast you want to sell. Same as my thinking until I bought the new boat, now I'm at 34K and am certainly looking to move it quick at that price. You have to pre-qualify to get rid of the hull-kickers and other assorted nood-nicks. I had a guy call yesterday who was a "serious pontoon boat buyer". I politely told him this was the other end of the spectrum. My web site for the boat has done a good job of spurring interest and reducing showing it to people who have no idea what "one of dem dar barhars iz".

H2Xmark 08-11-2002 07:57 PM

the market might be a little slow, I have thought about stepping up to a bigger boat, but I will most likely wait a little while, i have a 2000 h2x bought new in 2001, with a 454mag, nice boat and trailer with mag wheels, its not for sale but if someone gave me 35000.00 it would be there boat:D

Shooter 08-11-2002 08:57 PM

I found a killer deal on my "new" 302, I had to take the chance. Someone will certainly luck out with my "old" boat. It kills me to sell it for that after all the dough I put into it last year. Just the cost of moving up.

djm 08-12-2002 02:26 PM

Down to $34,900 hopefully this attracts a buyer.

H2Xmark 08-12-2002 07:41 PM

sounds like a good price DJM, I talked to the Baja dealer a little while back to see what trade in was on my boat, talk about hurt, give nothing and sell high is there goal, wish you luck

djm 08-22-2002 03:00 PM

Just posted it on ebay. Should be viewable soon, reserve is 34k:(

Price lowered to 33,500. Had her out last weekend, runs perfect.

outlawntexas 10-09-2002 12:23 PM

You know djm, there is a flip side to this. You have to drop your price because the market sucks for selling. On the other hand, the boat you buy will/should have gone through the same slide. My take on it is if you drop 5% and the boat you're buying drops 5%, you're ahead! :D

Now, I'm in the same position. Selling my 24 Outlaw for a 29 or 32. I've been dropping my price 50 cents on the dollar they've dropped. In other words when I see a reduction in the range of $3K on that size boat, I drop about $1500.

Make any sense???

Good luck,
Bruce...

29 OUTLAW 10-09-2002 01:00 PM

Hey Outlawntexas,

What are you asking for your 1998. My 24 was a 1998 and I got $36,000 in trade back in 2001 which I thought was very good. They were going to give me $40,000 until they found out that my engine was not a Merc.

liquid asset 10-09-2002 01:07 PM

how much are you asking for your 24, mine is 4 sale also

Selling My H2x

Dan, this may help in pricing your boat...I purchased a new 2002 H2X in June of this year....It is loaded to the hilt with the Boss package which i thing included stainless rubrail, pop-up cleats, 496 HO, upgraded stereo with amps and subs, Fire supression, dual ram tabs, Quick and Quiet, SmartCraft option, side pick-ups, custom wheel, custom,Eagle trailor with custom rims, Cockpit cover,Lorange depth sounder, Snap in carpet...and other options that I am sure i have forgotten. Price out the door was less that $44,000. It had two hours of test time on it.

Hope this helps.

djm 11-04-2002 03:20 PM

Well, after some LOWball offers, two no-shows, a donation / tax deduction offer, and one Nigerian scam it looks like I'll be holding onto the H2X for awhile longer. All I wanted to do was to save a few bucks each month but I have a feeling I really would've missed NOT having a boat next Summer. I think I'm happy with how things turned out:D

srpbaer 11-04-2002 03:41 PM

I am sure you will be glad you did. Don't you just love the so called "buyers" who act like they have you over a barrell and you have to take those low-ball offers. Let them go elsewhere and try and steal a boat...true is they could not afford the boat to begin with!!!!!

29Fever 11-05-2002 03:45 PM

When I sold my Fountain, I got more calls from brokers who wanted to list my boat than actual buyers. Then there were the calls from people who just want to bull$hit about boating. I then understood why people put "serious inquiry only"

outlawntexas 11-06-2002 11:53 AM

I'm with you brother... :D

Bruce...

H2Xmark 11-07-2002 06:57 PM

hey srpbaer, were did you buy your H2x at? was it new or used?
Mark

srpbaer 11-08-2002 07:28 AM

Mark,
I bought mine in eastern Tennessee. It was new and was perfect for my use in a lake I live on. The boat has been flawless with no problems at all. My dealer water tests each boat before he sells them and that catches most of the problems we read about on this and other Baja boards.

I see my your name that you must also own a H2X...What's your overall opinion of the boat?

My e-mail is [email protected]
See Ya
JIM

H2Xmark 11-09-2002 07:29 AM

hey Jim, I bought a new H2X from Marine max in Houston, custom Hoss trailer with mag wheels, spare tire, boat has a 385hp 454mag in it, porti poti, dual ram trim tabs, snap in carpet, depth gauge, trim on throttle, I like the boat only had a few problems when new the dealer took care of, have 47 trouble free hours on it now, you got a deal on your boat I payed about the same as you on my 2000 model, hope you enjoy it
Mark

srpbaer 11-09-2002 09:50 AM

Mark,
Sounds like you have almost the same boat. The boss package included the carpet, stainless rubrail and pop-up cleats, up-graded cd player with amps and subs, trim on handle,K-controlls, optional gauges, depth sounder, The 496 Ho is an option as were the dual ram trim tabs, custom steering wheel, My dealer had to special order the side pick-up on the outdrive because almost all come wth that low pick-up crap.
The trailor is a Eagle with custom rims and finders with diamond plate metal on the finders and steps. I e-mailed Baja and the customer service confirmed they could provide me with a "build sheet" which I have...It shows exactly what was orderd on your boat..I wanted it for my records so when i sell it i can show what options it has. You may still get one on your if you wish.
You mentioned some "small" problems with yours at first..what were they? The only problem i had was a cracked face on my depth sounder. It was very minor but the dealer insisted he replace it...they ordered it and then came to my house and installed the new one in my boathouse...That's service!!!

The dealer is a friend of mine but does this for all his customers...He called me and gave the price of the boat over the phone and wanted to know if I wanted to take it for the weekend before I bought it. I pushed him for some freebies like life preservers and vests and then said yes to the deal...He had it financed n 11 minutes from the first call. This guy is good.

Yea I love this boat...it halls butt and gets the crowd where ever it goes...I am going to take the Q&Q tips off and put angle cuts on it this winter.
I hope you like yours too. They are hard to beat.
Sorry for being so long winded..
Be cool

H2Xmark 11-09-2002 03:57 PM

the problem with my boat was the factory did not wire up the bilge pump correctly, and they did not put a drain in my ice chest well, also the pass seat base was defective and it would not swivel, all was fixed under warranty at marine max, enjoy your boat, at the first of the year I want something a little bigger with twin engines
