Yeah Daze,

The new XZ drives on my boat are boat low and side water pickup. I understand from the dealer the the side holes do most of the work, and the low is to help clear out trash, sand, etc.

I put the orange plastic boot with the hole plugged on the lower and the ears on the side with the hose to it. Works great to flush both the drives and engines.

I'm not sure if this applies, but on my Formula, there is a valve under the gunnel that directs the water to one, both, or no engine. I found this valve the hard way, burned up a seawater impeller. Remember, this is a twin application.

I have 2 connections in the engine compartment, one for each motor.

skygod, do you have to turn valves to use those, my friend has a 96 32Fountain and he has them in the engine compartment w/ valves. Damm thing is, one time he turned one back but somehow forgot to turn the other back, well, that toasted the water pump.

Mark,
No valves, just screw it in and fire it up.

It's great we all have this forum to share our experiences. I think of all the things I did not have to learn the hard way since this board started, and the money this board has saved me.
