Hoss, Texoma is in a bad way and getting worse. Chads 29 is stuck on the lift at Cedar Mills. You're best bet/quickest access is going to be up 75 to Highport Rd. Several storage business in that area and the Marina has a long ramp and deep cove (low water). I'm at Coit and Preston, it takes me right at an hour driveway to driveway not towing the boat. I brought my boat home last fall when the water started dropping. I couldn't see paying $450 a quarter to let her sit when I can stash her here for free. 40 and 50 foot dry storage bays for rent are not plentiful. Good luck on your boat search. Holla if you wanna have a Tito or whiskey beer.

Man we are close! I am technically at El Dorado/Custer in Winding Creek Estates just behind that Signiture Kroger. Wife and I use the 24 hr. fitness there on Preston by the mall. Small world! For sure...let's get together...713-594-6080
Don't know exactly where we will end up, don't know where to go or if it's even worth driving up to Texoma to look for a stall or not....not finding a lot of places around our area either. Where is everyone boating that can boat? Where is your boat stored now? Got room for another or any suggestions for a 40' + stall around our way? |
Y'all should go on up to Highport and check out the restaurant/bar/club and facilities. It's a great "home port". The lake is useable but it's never been this low this time of year. We've had 16% of normal rainfall, basically missed all the rainy season. Texoma is by far your best option, it's a cool lake with lots of diversity and some big clear water (90k acres). The Boat Hut is the first place on your left when you turn on Highport Road. It's about 1/4 mile from the ramp. There is a new(er) big building in the back that can handle our boats. It only has 6 bays tho. I had a 15x50 that cost $450 every three months. Perfect for what I needed and I think you'll like it.
Local options.....PK is a hassle to get to and COVERED in LEO's plus it's small. Go fasts aren't welcome by the locals or LEO's. Lewisville is a dangerous, ugly mud hole. Been on it twice in 14 years and won't be back. Ray Roberts is close and kinda nice but full of stumps on the North end. It's also kinda sleepy (boring) and boats like ours draw the wrong kind of attention. Think Bass boat/Toon crowd. Ray Hubbard is quickly turning into lake Lewisville. Big weekend crowds and places to visit by boat but it gets old quick and is also at record low level with poor ramp facilities (no courtsey docks) at public launch ramps. I'd think there are storage options on the South side of Lewisville just West of the Colony down 121 from you. I've never looked tho. My tub is stashed in a friends warehouse in Wylie. I can't even get her out without a forklift. It's not a good "in season" option for either of us. I'm not sure WTF I'm gonna do this year to be honest. |
Thanks buddy! Great chatting with you earlier...hope some of the options we are looking at will work out and a lil praying for rain so we can hook up on the lake....or screw it, trailer queen at the bar! Either way man thanks for the hospitality and we will be in toxu soon!!!

Hook'em- just wondering what the levels are like at Texoma, I heard they where still decent. I live about a mile from a boat ramp onto lewisville lake and don't care much for it at all either. I do a lot of fishing and bow fishing on it but the levels are getting worse. My boat never saw the water last summer because of it being so low and time.

It's right at 9 feet low. It was full and even a few inches high at times all last Summer. If it rains it'll be ok, tons of watershed area, but as of know it hasn't recovered from the fall release at all. I'll send Hoss some pix of a couple of ramps and no wake buoy from a month or so ago. I can't post them.

Cool- appreciate the update ! Pics would be cool ......

I sent pix to Hossman. He can hijack his own thread with them if he wants. Hope to see y'all on the lake soon. Cheers.
