Removing cockpit floor 33 outlaw

I'm try to remove the center section that cover the fuel tank in my boat. It has a soft spot I was going to repair. I removed the screws and it won't budge! Is it glued or sealed also?? I hate to pry on it and chip the gelcoat....

You got your bolsters removed?

kennyo 03-18-2014 09:16 PM

well yeah, :) The bases are still there though..... I thought they would come up with the floor.. Are they bolted into something else

Well on my 252 the seat bases had the inboard leg bolted to the center section and the outboard leg bolted to the deck. The 33 may be a different configuration. I did not have any trouble getting the center section out of the boat once all the screws (and seats) were out. It is rather heavy though.

Also be aware that the seat bases bolt to the side (gunwale) of the boat. That may be what's holding it in if the bases are still there even if they only mount to the center section. Good luck.

I have the seats completely out. The oval base( McCleod bolster) are still there the screws are stripped. On my 272 they are bolted to that section with a plate so it should come up. It acts like it's glued down also... Even the back edge is stuck.

That does sound like a problem Kennyo. I agree with your strategy though and would start at the stern first.

I also assumed you had the aero bolsters. The McCleod's details are unknown to me so scratch that bit of info. Let me know how you make out. Surely someone will pipe up here with some direct 33 knowledge.

Do you have the back seat base out ?.......it goes underneath it

Throw a lit match in the fuel tank! It will come out. LOL

Sorry, could not pass on that one.

Baja's production people did put a bead of sylicone down when setting the center floor in place. Theory was it would stop any noise as you walked on the floor section.
