One down one to go!

Well I sold my ol 272 last night.......I sure had a ton of $$ and time in that thing. Kind of bitter sweet. This 33 better be a good boat or I'm going to be pissed!! :)

I think you'll be happy. I know threre is a ton of difference between my 29 and the 25 OL's and 272/275's that my friends have.

I already love the cockpit roominess!

jmeng 05-13-2014 01:31 PM

I'm sure. I rode in a friends 33 for the Tickfaw 200 and loved the cockpit. We had 7 people on the boat and never even felt close to crowded. Wait till you get into rough water, you'll really like it. Probably the only downside compared to your 272 is access for maintenance. Twin engine baja's suck when you have to get to the engines.

you will love it. I did mine when I went from my 25 to my 33.

Unless you have a .38 Special then there's TONS of room in the engine bay! :)

I'll rephrase, those of us with the tiny Baja's have to deal with crappy engine access. :D

Definitely will love it!! We also went from a 25 to a 33!! I will say that it rides a lot better with 4 blades than it did with the 3 blades on it. Not necessarily faster, but better feel and no blow out in turns when still trimmed out under normal cruising.

I actually changed my impellers this spring and it really wasn't that bad!

I can't vouch for the space in a 38' because I have no experience with them. However, working on a 29' is a huge pain in the ass compared to working on a 33'. The 33' isn't bad at all once you get used to it.

Take a few bolts out and remove the upper portion of the back seat and things are a lot easier to get at.

Ain't nothing tiny about a 33OL!!!! I can vouch for the tiny space on my 302 when I had to work on motors. As JT said remove the backseat it makes life alot easier. I actually never put the bolts back in my seat fit so tight you didn't need them, so whenever I had to work on it I'd just pull the seat out.

After a month solid of 14 hr days I took the 33 out yesterday.......I was thoroughly pleased with the boat as well as my mechanical ability's :) Delivering the 272 to its new owner today.. Got to give him some pointers on going 90mph in a 60 mph boat. I guess I'll have to upgrade my membership so I can share pics of the new one. My body is beat all to hell from working on this thing! Time to float and drink some beer now woohoo!

jmeng 05-19-2014 08:51 AM

Glad you're liking it! You don't need a membership to post pics. Just host them on photobucket or one of those sites and post the [IMG] code.

jmeng 05-19-2014 08:52 AM

Didn't realize the 33 had more room in the engine compartment. I take the top of my backseat out for anything more than an oil change but impellors stll stuck.
