277 islander with 650 hp 540
 

I have a 232 with the above mentioned motor. It runs 78 mph. I want a newer and bigger islander and am thinking about a 277. What do you suppose my motor would push the 277 to?

68-72?

The 26 Outlaw with the 600 SCI ran 78-79. I'd say the 277 w/650HP would be in the 80 MPH range without much trouble. I mean it may throw you out chine walking around 70 but.......

I'd guess 80+- and would highly suggest powered adjustable trim tabs and power steering be added if not so equipped already.
Once powered up the 27' Baja's seem to make really good speeds even though they only pack one engine.

Remember the Islanders have much more wind drag slowing them down compared to a closed bow and windscreen model. A 277 has a good hull design under it, so I say 73-77 mph.
