232 Fuse Panel
 

My buddy was over and upon inspection of the fuse panel noticed a few things. I'm not sure if they are normal or not????


1) It seems like the 20AMP ignition fuse has been bypassed from the block and added inline instead? Does that seem right?
2) One of the labels has been scratched off what was this originally for?
3) The 20 AMP accessory in the bottom of the block seems to be added, anyone know what this orange wire might be for?

1) By the looks of it the 20 amp fuse that was added in line was because the fuse block got hot on that fuse and probabley melted the terminals in the block. Beside replacing the entire panel, that is the only way to fix it. No harm no foul on that repair in my eyes.

2) IIRC is a ACC spot to add something later on in life. I see it has a Gray wire (not form Baja) leaving it.. I would have to look at Steve's 232

3) Could be transom shower, Captin call exhaust, Radio/amp, under water lights, docking lights. What do you have extra on the boat?

My Baja had same fuse block. Had several fuses and wires that were warm to the touch. The fuses were not held in tight and wires with less than idea crimps. All resulted in high resistance and electrical issues. I replaced the fuse block with a quality Blue Seas block, new wire crimps and ALL my electrical demons disappeared. The fuses on the old block make contact with very small and weak contacts. Fuses felt like hardly being held in. There's a reason those fuse blocks sell for. $10.

I does look like that relocated ignition wire had issues just as I had, thus the inline fuse and moved to the main feed stud. Check all your fuse to see how tight they snap in and if warm after a few minutes with that item switched on.
Is the original power lead underneath that relocated wire in the stud? Red/black wire? Hard to tell but looks like a crimp connector underneath.

Thanks for the heads up - looks like one more thing to replace. I'm also added a new larger switch panel, so maybe all this can be one fun project :(

The BlueSea systems is only 12 blocks, I'd like to go to about 20 for additional items I'm wiring in (LED's etc). Anyone know of a 20 block fuse panel of good quality? Other options/suggestions, circuit breakers?
