Baja 25 outlaw 80+ MPH what power?
 

What kind of power do you need in a Baja 25 Outlaw to get it over the 80 MPH mark?

750HP?? I have 800HP and see 85 with 33 prop in 2004 25 outlaw.

I have a 272 boss (I know its not exactly the info you are looking for but thought I would share) that makes 902 HP with a pro-charged 522, stern jack and a 30 pitch four blade and it has been low 90's.

I have 1997 24 ft outlaw sst w a 502 and m1 procharger and i see 80mph, with a 4 blade spinelle prop

I believe I saw one say one time that the 25 outlaw takes either 12 or 15hp per mile per hour. So I would say at least 650. Assuming you have a 496 ho, bust out the checkbook for some forged internals and a whipple. Then you will have to upgrade the drive as well and add hydraulic steering. I would take that money and just buy something faster.

I have also seen low 80's gps ... It's is Deffinatly a handful without hydraulic steering. I run a B1 with steel tower and thick floor gears, haven't had any issues as of yet but I don't live at those speeds either.

I've ben working on a performance prediction calculator that is starting to yield some pretty good results. What I am seeing from it is you will need between 575 and 600 hp at 5000 rpm if you can keep the boat weight around 5500 lbs. You will need a 29 or 30 pitch prop depending on what end of the hp scale you are on.

I have a 496HO with raylar 525HO kit installed with a B1 spinning a 27 cupped/labbed 4blade prop. I can get a consistent 75 mph without hitting rev limiter. Hope this info will help get you some closer numbers.

I haven´t been on here for quite a while but as I am still running (and very pleased) with my 25 Outlaw,so this seems as good a place as any to say hello.

67 mph is what I got from the stock 496HO power, a good 25 four blade and light chop.

75 mph is where I was with a 525 EFi.3" lift extension box, hydraulic steering and full size tabs had all helped to make the little 25 into a giant killer.

I saw good 80 + figures (84 mph) with my 600SCi using a shorty and a slippery 32" four blade. But I started to lose the plan a little, as chasing top speed took away alot of what the 25 Outlaw is really about.

I discovered that with standard length XR (on the 3" lift Ext) and a 26" Maximus I had the best of both worlds. 80 mph, amazing rough water ability right up to that speed, and good mid range driveability.

The 600 is in it´s 7th season and has run flawlessly 170 hours. The 12 year old hull has 480 hours on it, and still looks like new.
