Swapped out the fuel pump for the Holley 130gph and no noticeable gain in top end. With the 1.65 drive Rev4 23p prop she still tops out at 5k and approx 55mph. I think that is all this pig is good for. I'm done. That's the way it's going to stay as I can't think of much else to chase down.

Good decision, run it and if you want to go faster Home Depot has "For Sale" signs for $5, much more cost effective

So I've also been chasing an oil pressure issue where it has topped out at about 45psi and dropped down to 25psi at idle. switched out the oil pressure sender for $26 and boom, nearly 70psi. Boats sure are fun, lol.

I set the throttle at 4k and put the missus at the wheel and watched my fuel psi dropping to 4.5-5psi for the short time I watched it even with the 130gph pump. The saga continues...

I just pulled off the anti-siphon valve. What are the odds of this being part of my problem?
|
Well it looks like I may have found a strong culprit. I changed out the factory Corsa mufflers for some Hardin open tips and now it feels like a completely different beast from half throttle up. I didn't have a working speedo but easily gained 500+ rpm. The water was too rough to really hit the sticks though.

Good to see your sticking with it . I lost 500 rpm from all the crap thats attached itself to the bottom over the summer. Thats what im hoping is causing it anyhow.

Update to post:
Through various re-rigging etc over the winter finding a multitude of issues adding up, such as, the stock Corsa tips were pretty much blocked off, the power supply wire to the coil was 22g when a 12g minimum is required, and a slight kink in the rubber fuel line between the fuel pump and regulator all made a big difference and it feels like a completely different boat. With a 1:65 Bravo 1 and a 23p Rev4 it'll hit 5400rpm pretty quickly. It jumps out of the hole and planes quickly, and the midrange acceleration will knock people over, lol. This was with four adults, 40g of gas, and a few beers in the coolers. I didn't get a mph reading but I'd guess mid fifties with this setup. |
