Potential Baja
Going to finally look at my first 2005 25 Outlaw. It has the 496HO with 222 hours. Boat is all stock.
Can anyone tell me what imperfections I should look for when I'm there? Guy started asking 44k, but then told me he'd take 37k. I told him that was still a little outta my price range and he is pushing for me to come look at the boat because he just put a down payment on a new boat. What is a good price to get a low hour 2005 25 outlaw with 496HO for? Nada says 33k for average but these people selling their boats always shoot higher then that. |
I would take my time - there are several out there to be had for less. For that kinda a money you should be looking at a 33ft baja - the 25 is a great boat for sure but if you plan on taking several people out at a time you will quickly out grow it. A survey is a must and well worth the money !

Guess I didn't answer your question - the 25 is a great boat, not the best built or the fastest, but the looks and price tag makes them very attractive to a lot of people wanting to get into the high performance boating world ! I've seen several in the mid 20's and low 30's with hydraulic steering, upgraded stereo low hours etc - They are a blast to drive, handle the rough water well decent on fuel and easy to tow.
What is your price range ? Lots of guys here will put you in the right direction !!! |

Wasnt there a couple on the FB powerboat shop in the 40k range with 525efis in them?

I tend to agree , they are nice boats but you may grow out of it quickly .I know a ton of guys that jumped into 23-26 foot go fasts and grew out of them for a multitude of reason including range water conditions space and comfort for you and passengers .
Good luck in your search for your Baja they are good boats .I have had a few over the years ,I'm on my second sport 280 and had the 28 center console . I sold my first sport for the center console then decided that wasn't for us then got the one we have now ,we love it its big has good range and its safe in big water and fits up to eight although I very rarely put more than 6 in the boat and usually its just 3 or 4 . http://longisland.craigslist.org/boa/4583979522.html |

I wouldn't be too worried about out growing too quickly. We have a 232 and love it's size for a multitude of reasons. Are there days I wish I had a 35 with 700's, of course, there are days I'd like a 442 with triples.
wake - whats your planned usage, what boats have you had in the past, are you 100% set on a 25OL and for what reasons? These will all help guide you. Also I personally like a newer totally stock boat vs. some of the other 'built' options out there, just always felt like there was less potential for headaches. |
