1999 baja 272 Performance
 

Hey Guys, I have a couple of questions. This boat is new to me. How do I charge the battery's with the hatch being closed? Just want to give my batteries one more charge before winter. I want to take them out, but how do I close the hatch after? Also, My boat has Captains choice. Can I change the exhaust tips where the flappers are attached to on the outside of the boat, or do I have to change the whole manifold. I just want to chrome it up a bit and don't like the flappers. Maybe even have it run louder, when I have it going to throught the haul and not through the prop. Thanks..

Under my rear bench there are 2 post, positive and negative, you can hook a battery charger up to them and run the accessories without the batteries in it.

OR you can raise hatch and take the bolt out, prop up the seat and lay the arm down. I just put a 3 bank charger under the bench mounted to the front wall in there and keep it plugged in all the time. I have a plug mounted in the right side that I just plug in an extension cord and voila!

I had a 2000 272 I don't remember anything under the bench besides the perko switch, I think I pulled the pin on the hatch, ran the ram down and left it like that till spring, make yourself a hatch prop to hold it open

We had a 272 also and there are not any jumping or charging posts under the rear seat from the factory and the battery is under the hatch, makes for a pain if power goes out. In your situation you can go under the dash access panel and hook power up to open and close or just simply disconnect the actuator from the hatch when its open as others have already suggested. For future ease I would install a set of posts under the rear seat.

I had a 99 272 and i had charging posts under the rear bench seat. Hook'em up and run what you need to, You can change just the tips on the exhaust you do not have to change the mainfolds.

There are posts under the rear seat, beneath red and black insulated covers. My 1996 272 had them, as does my 2000 272. I store my batteries inside, and use a booster pack hooked up to the posts to lower the outdrive for winter storage. Works like a charm.
