I have 7.4's and spinning 23" mirage plus. Top speed is 65 with best conditions. Otherwise 62 loaded. That's turning about 4900 rpms.

Hole shot is awesome. It's on plane without trying. Cruise fuel efficient 45mph @ 3500 rpms.

It seems most think that a 29 ft. OL with twin 454 MPI base motors[ 315 HP I think], will run in the low 60's . now the question is how to get it to 70 or better without spending a ton. What would be the best bang for the buck?

Buy one with mags if that's your goal. Don't throw money at 7.4s. they are 310 hp. 63ish with a light load and good conditions.
