Finally did it.
It's no big deal to any of you guys but I finally got my 29 Outlaw to break 78mph (78.3mph gps). The 78mph barrier was a big deal for me since now when people ask "...how fast?" I can round up and say "almost 80".
Why did it take till now? I would have to say it was due to the weather today - only about 80 degrees outside vs. the 95+ we've had all summer. Speed was with full tank and on flat water. I imagine some of you guys with bigger ball$ could take my boat with a 1/4 tank and find some choppy water and get it even faster. |
Congrad's I wish my boat would hit 78! maybe my next one will, are you still using the lab props? how many hours on the motors now? Mark
|
I'm turning Mirage Plus 27's labbed by Bronson Hill. My motors are HO's and have about 70 hours. I'm confident that if I upgraded to a 33 Outlaw, HO's would be just fine - especially since Dustin Whipple is now offering ECU upgrades for this motor.
496 HO's are stout!! |
SWEET,
I would be very proud of that. Keep us posted on when you top 80! Mark |
Originally posted by Dock Holiday SWEET, Keep us posted on when you top 80! Mark You guys keep raising the bar!!! Wait till the 30 Outlaw comes out. People on this forum say it is supposed to run 6mph faster than a 29 Outlaw with the same power. I guess that means a 30 Outlaw with HO's will run 84mph. We'll see. Baja would have to come up with major smoke and mirrors. I guess the faster I go, it raises the bar even more for the 30!! |
Not trying to raise the bar at all.
You said it, a little chop and who knows? Of course it is safe to assume that all performance boaters want more speed!:D Guess I'm going to need Whipples to keep up with you guys. Mark |

Originally posted by 29 OUTLAW No way - you don't need Whipples. You just drag us little boys into some big water and you are king of the hill regardless of top speed!!! :) And then there is High Tide that will kick all our ass. |
Originally posted by Dock Holiday Of course it is safe to assume that all performance boaters want more speed!:D Mark oh well, going fast does keep you young. it would be against every instinct of mine (and i am sure most of yours) to not want to go faster, REMEMBER: "Speed Changes You" |
Congrats 29!
That's another step in overcoming the speed barriers! I'd venture to guess that with a light load and low fuel, you could easily coax that last 1.7mph out no problem! |
hard to believe you have 70 hours on that boat now! I have alway's liked the 29outlaw, I hope early next year it will be time to upgrade:D those 496's are starting to grow on me, I see more and more popping up and they are holding up, that was one of the reason's to hold up on buying a 29, the other reason, well it's called DIVORCE but I'm glad my X is cool, or she might have the H2X:cool:

Congrat's on the speed! Awesome #'s! Hope to read about you hiting or breaking the 80 MPH. I'm tellin' ya the 496 MAG HO in my opinion is conservatively rated at 425 HP. I have two friends one with a 272 and the other with a 25 Outlaw and their speeds are impressive!
Keep us posted! Mike |
Cool!!!!
80 should be no sweat if you do what has been discussed above. If you need a driver I am available....HeHeHe:D 74.0GPS in my 24 OUtlaw made me feel pretty good, so I know what you mean. Have fun and lose some of that fuel. I have not had mine completely full for atleast 2 years. TOo much weight. Later. |
