Curious to know why the graphics were overlaid onto the wrap as opposed to printed.

Is this real blue carbon fiber or a vinyl? Looks great!

It started as a DIY job and my graphics guy at work offered to help. I was going to wrap then cut out my own graphics. Then it evolved into him offering to help me. He had never done a large boat before so it was trial and error. We actually wrapped it twice b/c his supplier sent him the wrong vinyl at first.

Also, I picked Black metallic as the base! Going to look awesome in the sun!!

nailit 03-31-2017 09:55 AM

I thought Dave wrapped it, but I could be wrong?

Buffed and wrapped the side to cover the deck graphics. Came out good. Trying to decide whether I want to cover the other side or not? Its buffed, i planned on just waxing it.

What should I do?

RollWithIt 04-02-2017 08:29 AM

Definately looks good. I like the all white deck look.

IGetWet 04-02-2017 10:01 AM

I would try to put some of the design from the side onto the deck, just to break up the all white a little. But the white doesn't look bad.

offshorexcursion 04-02-2017 11:10 AM

Looks good but a clean simple graphic on top would be nice

Thanks for the input.. I went ahead and just finished waxing! Looks good! OffExc turned me on to this stuff! Presta and Collinite wax.

Also I finally found a good shot of the top for this graphic to copy!

Added some bump!! Had a 12" in the cuddy compartment, but added 2 10"s in the bench! I need to fine tune it, but it sound good! I think I need to add some tweeters to the passenger and helm sides. Those speakers are so damn low, the seat blocks most of my sound.

iaoutlaw 04-24-2017 08:15 AM

Looks good.. I'd definitely add a few tweeters.. the JL ones I added made a huge difference.

What flavor of paint did you use?

nailit 04-26-2017 07:12 AM

I believe it was rustoleum gloss red from Home Depot. First, i prime with self etching primer. Good results!

Dombam 12-25-2017 01:31 PM

How did you get rid of the original teal graphics on top to make it all white ?

Well, I cleaned up the whole deck, then applied white vinyl from the windscreen edge to the bow cleats. THen I had to buff the crap out of the Port side to match. Can barely tell the difference in the sun.

What paint did you use for the step? Rattle can? Just tapped it off and rushed it? Came out nice.

yes, I just used rustoleum gloss paint. I actually sanded it down pretty well till I got to mostly aluminum, then sprayed with self-etching primer to get it to stick.

Sanding it down well and the self etching is the key to getting it to stick. All in the prep as they say.

NICE!! I did that a few times on drive lower ends. Works like a charm. ;)

Nice job and thanks for sharing your progress. When you refinished your swim platform did you paint or powder coat? Where did you find the replacement rubber strips that go in the base that give you grip when you stand on it

I painted for now. I sanded, applied self-etching primer and rattled canned it. It needs to repairing as before I bought it, it apparently got water in the channels and froze causing a lil damage to a couple of the tubes. So, I plan on cutting them out and replacing.

as for the rubber inserts, they have those around.. Do some thread searching and you will find guys who have some to sell. I actually filled in the channels and applied grip tape like I had on my 25ol. easier to maintain and my rubber inserts were hard.

F-2 Speedy 06-12-2018 01:54 PM

I've given the rubber insert guy's # to several on here, see if David still has it

Thanks Tank,
We actually put in a pool behind the house this summer, then my daughter started a year round swim club that has meets 1x a month (both days), we missed both of our big poker runs we do and I really just questioned how much we will use in in the next couple years as we only made 3 trips this summer after all that work. Oh, we also have a small lake behind the house (landlocked) that we pull the kids behind the jet ski on a tube also. Too many options... :-(

I enjoy working on her, which usually makes up for some time that I cant actually be on the water, But there is not much left to do beside normal polish, etc.
Sooooo, I figured it might be time to sell her for now.... Realized I have had her for 5 years, bought her when she had 12 hours on motors and have 86 on there now.. So I apparently only put 74 hours in 5 years. ~15 hours a year!

I would rather someone enjoy her now and i'll get a road toy to play with more often. (looking at Jeep SRT's)
Who knows, I priced it well considering the time and money I put in updating her, so if no one jumps on this by spring, I may end up keeping her...

Did you have the Baja logo put in the vinyl gauge panel covering?

I put “33 outlaw” on the switch panel and “baja” on the key panel. Is that what your referring to?
I used a vinyl cutting machine and cut the stickers out myself. My now exwife has a machine. ..

Flmike 08-21-2019 09:53 PM

Vinyl

Thanks for the response. I have done the ex wife thing, cost me the equivalent of 4 new outlaw 36’s. Ugh

Just quick update. Divorce was final in May. Been a crazy year, ended up buying a house in late Nov.

This best part is its on the water and my boat is on a lift behind house!!

DallasBAJA 07-16-2020 08:45 AM

So, does that mean you are keeping it now and this thread can live on??

nailit 07-16-2020 08:49 AM

LOL, yes, I kept the boat! So, yes, they will live on! Have probably put more hours on her this year than I have in the past 5 years!
Actually, she is in the shop this week, had some water getting in to oil. Ended up being a lil corrostion on bottom of intake and also lower drive cable split. Hope to have her back next week!

Shes been good, first time I had to put her in the shop since I bought her in spring of 2013 other than small items that I had to change (sensors and crap (iac, tps, etc.)
