Potential soft floor issue?
I'm looking at a 2000 Baja 280 Sportfish. Anyone know these boats? The boat seems in really nice shape EXCEPT, where the four corners of the center console bolts to the floor, the floor "gives" a little (the rest of the bolts into the floor for the center console and leaning post are fine). Also, around the leaning post, the front two bolts (on each side on the outside corners) the floor feels the same. The rest of the boat seems great. So, could it be a soft floor or just a design flaw where after fifteen years of walking and leaning around these corners, the area has gotten weak?

I can't speak for your boat at all, but I know the Baja 272 models come spongy, and if you want that firm feeling then plywood has to be glued to the underside.

pull out 1 of the bolts in the soft areas,,,,,stick a pic in crooked and see if there is still any wood left around the hole
as screwed down consoles and towers water leaks in through the screws when they are not sealed or come loose and wood rots |
