Looking for 272 cockpit cover...
Anyone have a cockpit cover for a 272? Boat has windshield.
Thanks in advance! |
okay, so nobody has one of these kicking around... Can anyone point me in the direction of buying a new one?
|
Local canvas guy in your area is best bet or xt innovators in Ohio.
|
@wwolfe...
That was the answer I was hoping to avoid... :-) |
Nothing on the shelves anymore. You're going to need a local canvas shop. Give XT Innovations a try though.
|
Thanks, will do...
I was hoping someone may have one from a parted boat - I'll still keep the feelers out in case someone has something hanging around, otherwise I'll have to have one made... Bummer |
I have a brand new one, never used. PM me.

Careful if the replacement has snaps already installed. Evidently Baja did not use a pattern and the snaps, at least on the fiberglass, are not installed in a specific location. It was more or less up to the rigger doing the installation. Perhaps Taylor Made did a better job on the windshield snaps. In any event, best to get one without snaps if possible and install them to match your boat when you get the cover.

Incorrect. The windshield snaps are moveable and a non issue. Taylor Made is irrelevant.
My covers fit both my 1996 and 2000 272s with no issues. |
What's incorrect?
The cockpit covers don't use snaps on the windshield.....but the snaps installed on the gel coat do not match the NOS (originally from Baja stock) cover he bought that had snaps already installed on it. The cover was shipped and the snap locations did not match. That is a fact. Edit: the cover in question is for the bow section on a 252 islander. Maybe the actual cockpit snaps did follow a pattern. I've never tried someone else's cover on my boat to verify. I am surprised your snaps lined up perfect on boats Baja built 4 years apart. |

No worries, we're all incorrect sometimes.
Like I said, the snaps on the windshield are mobile, and slide along the track. As for the hull, all I know is that my covers fit 2 different years of 272s, 4 model years apart. So it's possible they used some kind of template, etc. |
What color is the brand new cover you have. It has snaps installed, is it NOS?
|
If nobody else is wanting to buy i will get in line .Thanks
|
PM me for details.

Thanks for the reply Puzzleboy... Sorry I did not reply sooner... As the original poster, I am still interested. I sent a PM to you asking for details and pictures (if possible) - Thanks for getting back to me on this. Much appreciated!

Still in the market for a reasonably priced cockpit cover...
Thanks in advance... |
Thanks to all that replied. I just scored a brand new (unused) original Baja 272 Cockpit cover for $200.00 - The seller has had it sitting on a closet shelf since he brought home his 272 in 1995. He sold the boat three years ago. He still has the cover sitting on the same shelf, where it's been for the past 22 years... lol

Cover
Puzzleboy do you still have the cover?
|
Jfad... You may want to try to PM Puzzleboy. I'm not sure he follows this thread...
Last I knew he still had one or two covers available. Best of luck. |
