2001 33 Outlaw with 502Mag Mpi. Good motors?
Hello everyone.
I recently sold my 340 Sundancer and I am pondering the purchase of a Baja. I was originally looking at something smaller like the 25 with a 496. This boat is listed and I wasn't sure about the motors. Anyone have any insight?
Thank you!

The 502 Mag is a very good dependable motor with good internals. That being said.....you are buying a used motor and should have someone knowledgeable check them out including a leak down test.

I have a friend that has a 2000 33 OL for sale, as a previous owner of a 33 Outlaw I will say the are awesome boats, 502's are bullet proof if you maintain them correctly, huge cockpit and nice size cuddy....how many hrs on the engines and hull

I love Baja's. That said, look closely at the transom for wetness/rot. A lot of boats in this era were not sealed well at thru hull fittings like exhaust and tie down hoops. You don't want a transom replacement surprise later on. Those motors are pretty bulletproof if maintained and winterized properly.

Thank you for the replies. The broker knows nothing, not surprised. Supposedly the motors have 35 hours, I am assuming a rebuild but don't have much information. Boat was a fresh water boat originally.

If you're serious about the boat, see if someone on here can put an eye on it for ya, where is it if you want to share
Edit: most brokers seem to be paper pushers and wouldn't know the difference between a muffler bearing and a sea pump

I live about 2 hours away from where the boat is located (Ft.Myers, Florida). I have been looking at the 25 and 29 also. For as much as I use my boats I thought the 25 with a 496 was a good boat but friends are saying going with at least a 29.
