I hate those damn mufflers Baja is installing.
Will these tips from Eddie Marine work? Looking at the #100-08, 4 inch angle tip with flaps. How is the proper way to seal these at the transom? http://www.eddiemarine.com/Cart/deta...&CategoryID=30 |
go straight pipes babay!!;) :D I put GIL dry exhaust on mine and it is so frickin loud it's awsome!!!:D :D :D And you gotta love the dump ports for the exhaust over the drive(s). Looks sweeeeeet.

gottohavit those flaps are there for a reason.....those tips you put on should have flaps inside...if you get a big wave to break on your transom you can get water reversion real easy.....I know guys that have done it....if you run a dry exhaust high on the transom you should be fine but IMHO your pics show your exhaust pretty close to the water....

Thanks for the reply. Those tips look GREAT. I have a friend with a new 25 and he has the same ones. In looking at the Eddie Marine on line catalog, they show straight and 12 degree angle. Your tips look like they are at an angle from the flange? Guess I need to take a good hard look at mine before ordering. Tank, Not everyone can be a "Big Bad Ass Stud" like you man! :D I really do like the dry pipes. We have a new friend with them on a 31 Cig Bullet and they are cool. I just don't thing I am ready to do that just yet. How exactly does it work? Do you leave eveything the same just don't run the water into the exhaust? Are special exhaust required? What about extra heat under the pad? Inquiring minds want to know!:D |

The dry pipes I have are gils and they are the manifold types, not the header type. The water comes out of the manifolds and dumps into the stainless L pipe. exhuast pipes are double jacketed and most stock applications the water dumps into the exhaust pipe like 3/4's of the way to the transom, mixes with the exhaust (thus quiteing the sound greatly and cooling the tips) and dumps out the tips. A dry system doesnt dump back into the exhaust it hits a dead end and is forced up and out let which is diverted to the dumps. Some exhaust like stelling headers have a little spout at the bottom of the exhaust tip. Mine are deverted over and out above the drive. I've heard bad things about headers, that they tend to crack and leak causing reversion...Not good. I'm happy with the gil manifolds w/ stainless risers. They look good and sound frickin awsome! Again, I'm not an expert, If I missed anything I'm sure someone will correct me;) but that is the sum of how a dry system works. Oh, one more thing...You can't run the internal flappers with dry pipes...the system runs so hot it melts the flappers. I put a tiny pin hole at the end of my exhaust tip so it would at least put a little water in the exhaust thus cooling the external flappers. :cool: ;) Tank |

I put those same ones from Eddie on my 24. No problems what so ever. They send you silicone sealant with the tips. The hardest part was getting the stock muffler tips off of the transom. That silicone is some sticky s$#t! |

I was talking to a guy recently that messed up the gel coat trying to take off some accessories that were held on with 5200. Sounds like a fun project, NOT!:confused: Mark |
