New Baja brother on the board.....
 

I just wanted to introduce my self into the Offshore Only Baja brotherhood.....Oddly enough a Fountain owner told me about this site.

I saw a 38' Lightning at Lakeview Marina and there was Offshore Only decals on his engine scoops so I was intrigued and inquired as to what it was.....He said that this was the best board to be a member of and that he had met the best people from here. Told me that this was the best source for everything boat related so I thought would check it out...

I was also told that there were more Baja members here than all other builders combined...Is this true or was it just a line to get me here?? Anyway I am excited to be a new member and hope that I can have as many good things to say as he did....

Well I am originally from Houston but have a home in Florida(West Palm). Live in Magnolia for now and my boat is at Marine Max for sale at the moment because of a separation from my wife. I want to Liquidate everything in case something happens. Hopefully I can either get another 33' or move up to a 38' after all the smoke clears....Thank you all for the warm welcome!:)

gottahaveit...I know the boat you're talking about and that is another guy with a similar situation. I talked to Dave the other day and they want $124k for that boat!! That is the Richey Road location and mine is not at that store. Someone special ordered my boat then backed out, i was just in the right place at the right time. I originally wanted a 29' but I found the deal of the century and took advantage of it. Yes I am talking about Lakeview Marina off 105. I saw a kid there with a 38' Fountain that just had whipples installed and was running it for the first time to try them out. He had Offshore Only decals on his hatch scoops and that is how I found this site. I must say that this place is amazing and I am sure addictive too....I pop in about 4-6 times a day now and usually stay on for an hour or so, is this normal behavior for you guys???? Or am I just the odd ball?:D :D

I have posted a couple of time the last few days on other threads, just to add my .02.

I'm probably one of the most mature people here, (56), crazy about Baja's, and like to go fast if I feel like it. However, as long as I can go 65 or 70 I'm not going to worry about gaining a couple of mph. My view is that if a little extra speed is really what I want, I'll put in a motor that should do it, as long as I don't have to break the bank to do it.

I currently have an H2X that I'm having a motor put in, and also have a Bandit II. I like the Bandit, but it rides terrible in lake waves, and mine tends to chine walk over 70. I probably just don't know how to drive. I am having a new cuddy, carpet, and cockpit cover made for it, then It's going to be for sale. (pics at TBM page 4 members rides).

There's not good water around here without trailering for at least a couple of hours, so my wife and (no kids) usually go to the biggest lake around at 11,000 acres called Monroe. It's a nice lake, but being the only decent one around, there's always a bunch of 40 foot plus cabin cruisers and 80 foot houseboats running around and the chop can sometimes be horrendous. I like a small chop but this stuff comes at you from all directions.

Fortunately, there is a local shop around that does a lot of racing and marine motors. They have a good warranty, a good reputation, and are really reasonable pricewise.

Since I buy and sell a few boats, everything I do to a boat I consider that I will probably be selling it after a while, so I don't go to much extreme when I put money into it. I like a boat to be cosmetically and mechanically correct, but I'm not out to have THE fastest boat on the lake, just one of them. The H2X I intend to keep for a while then sell it, probably later next summer.

I would really, really, really like to have a 29 outlaw, but I just can't justify the investment, especially when boating season around here just lasts abut 4-5 months

Very familiar w/ Lakeview, ehh?? We launch there or Inland when we're up at Conroe. There's a couple of OSO'ers out there on the lake. We should all hook up at say Papa's or something sometime :D Hopefully, the weather will clear SOON!!!!!:rolleyes:

What are you running for props? I have a '33 with HPs as well. I've been running 24P B1s. Can get 73 (full load) @5200. Great hole shot and handling.

Bajadude you should be getting better than 73mph. I have a friend with a 33 with 496 H.O.'s getting 72mph full load. Another friend with 33 with 500 EFI's getting close to 80mph. All speeds GPS.

With the 24s I've never been able to get over 74 (GPS). Tried 28s and they sucked big time. Darin's going to work on the props over the winter. Some of the guys up here are running Mirages, and definitely get 2 - 3 more on the top end than I do. I just don't like the way they plane or handle.

We'll see in the spring.

Welcome Pwam3 and Baja_daddy. Trust me the Bajas can handle the extra power and still be safe and give a great ride! The 33 and the 32 I have are basically thesame hull.

I love to make much more expensive boats look silly.
