Adding Hydraulic Steering, Which Ram Size?
 

I am looking at buying a Mayfair hydraulic add on set for my 2005 Baja 25 Outlaw Bravo 1. They have two different options available.

Option 1
Part # 137-9414
(Ram Mounting Location is 9" from the side of the Gimbal Housing) (7” stroke ram)
Mayfair Single Bravo/Dual Ram Add-On Hydraulic Steering Kit - CP Performance

Option 2
Part # 137-9412
(Ram Mounting Location is 17-3/4" from the side of the Gimbal Housing) (9” stroke ram)
Mayfair Single Bravo/Dual Ram Add-On Hydraulic Steering Kit - CP Performance

I don’t see any reason why either one would work, which one is better? Any reason I should choose one over the other? Would love to hear from anyone who has added a Mayfair set on their boat.

Option 2 gives you more range of motion left to right which on a single engine is nice.. I just put an ITS on my 25OL and I did lose some maneuverability around the docks (Worth it btw)... Have you thought about doing full Hydraulic? If so and you have the budget just go for it right away.. you'll save yourself time and money in the long run. Also I highly recommend not buying the kit just buy the parts you need then take measurements of hose lengths to a hose shop and have them cut and put the ends on.. I have an entire spool of hose sitting in my garage.. If you want to go for the add on system PM me. I have most of the kit sitting in my garage that'll sell to you 1/2 price.

Thanks for the feedback. I looked at the full hydraulic, but at 1000 dollars more it's a little too steep. I would be interested in what you have available for the add on kit so I could price out what I would still need to get, and the cost of having custom hoses made.

Watched the video, looks like for both you have to keep the OE rack. I'd pay the extra $1k to get ride of it for more working room in the area as well as less leak and failure points.

Could always be worse, could have twins or trips.
