Another cover question.......
 

When I order this new cover...Should I get a 26 or 28 foot cover so I can cover the swim step?? Anyone done this?? I would like to get the swim step covered too. I don't ever tow with the cover on so thats not an issue. Plus I'm thinking if I order a longer cover it will go down on the sides a bit more too. Anyone done this???

I am in the same situation with my 26' Scarab. Getting ready to order a cover and don't know which way to go. Boat is 26.5' loa.

Let me know what you decide so I don't make a mistake. :p

As soon as someone lets me know if they have any info on this I'll let cha know;)

I don't really see any draw backs to it, except they are more money the longer they are.

The full covers that I have seen that are custom-fit usually go well below the rubrail so that a drawstring can be sewn in to go all the way around the boat, so you can pull the drawstring tight, and have less chance of losing the cover. If your swim platform is built in with the rub rail going around the edge, it will cover the swim step. If, however, you have an add-on swim step, it probably won"t.

If you really want to trailer the boat with the cover on, make sure that you get the straps that fasten around the boat frame, (I hate to use bungees because they scrape and scratch the paint on both boat and trailer), and make sure that there is a reiforcment sewn into the cover that goes from the straps across the cover to the straps on the other side.

If you are considering going with a longer cover to make sure it covers the step, you probably are looking at a generic one-size-fits-about-all type of cover that is not specifically made to fit your model of boat.

Sure don't know it all about this stuff, but I hope this helps.
