New 36 Outlaw

What are your guys thoughts? Like the new accessory buttons just wish they would have put them flat where the old toggle switches were on the 35OL and put a larger display in. Like the new seats in the 35.. I saw them in the 23 OL at LOTO Shootout this past year and they looked oversized in that boat but they fit nice in the 36. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...03ce3c99b4.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7a0be4178c.jpg |
Overall it’s a sharp boat, the outlaws have good lines. Not sure about the seats yet. Yes they should’ve put the buttons down on a separate panel. I feel they just put them on the dash panel because it was too empty with just the simrad there. A couple analog gauges on each side of the simrad would look good imo. Windscreen looks a little tall too. There, I think im done nit picking. As usual, the price will say the most. |
the logo is dwarfed by the size of the boat, needs to be bigger....out of 41 pic they show 1/2 an engine......:picard1:
|
I wonder what kind of price there putting on it ?

Super happy they're building boats. Why are they still building the 36 when they have the 35?
objective first thoughts - Likes: * Love the cabin colors, finish and details. * Love the little details around the dash as well (lit cub holders), stereo position, push button switches, etc. * Interior finish with the diamond pattern looks very nice and tight. The cut out gunnels is a long time coming and the recessed speakers looks very nice (obviously updated styling ques). * Carbon fiber touches looks classy. * Absolutely happy they went with "less is more" with interior colors. The two tone interior is NICE! Constructive Criticism: * Hate the seats. They sit too high. * I'd like to see the carpet out and something like Seadeck or Gatorfloor laid down. * Not a fan of no gauges...I know glass is all the rage, I just like some gauges. * I'd like to see a real head (don't know what's in there for a head since they didn't show it). * Back to the seats, the bases look a bit cheesy and I hope to god they through bolted them and didn't screw them in like they used to. * For a 36' boat, it sure does look small. I presume it's the way they have a large cockpit that sits way forward or maybe it's the angle of the photos or the colors, etc. Just looks short. But whatever. Over-all, I like it a lot. |
Looks like a 35 with a 2 ft swim deck, OAL 37.1 ?
|
I think they have to include the swim platform in the loa now. That’s why there’s 26 and 27 OLs as well. And yea, if seats were lower they could cut down the windscreen a bit too. |
The 35 and 36 are the same hull just includes the swim platform in LOA also I think there’s some marketing going on to promote the “return of Baja”. As far as price this boat with the 520’s is listed at Day’s boat sales for: $1759 per month, 5.99 apr, 240 Months, $30,000 down, so if you put that in a calculator it’s close to $275,000 out the door including fees, transportation etc. |
The front seats are an improvement over the previous versions from the fountain built boats...honestly, they looked like a high school shop project... now they need to work on the engine hatch, and how about at least a speedo and tach’s, the rest of it looks fine |
Wait, was the 35 always left hand throttle or is that a Fountain addition?

Was it always this way on the newer Bajas from Ohio?
Or was this a Baja by Fountian thing?! |

My thoughts that are worth less then 2 cents
I'm happy to see the 35 back. I personally like the lay out . Cabin is a usable size and a big cockpit. I have both a 30 and 33 in my Garage and compared apples to apples. 35 is the perfect mix of the 2 wile not moving up to a 38 or 40 foot boat. 2 different fonts of "Baja" on the boat . Notice the embroidery on the back of the seats is the original Baja font wile the all the rest is the new style font used in N.C. (cabin, glove box, side)... I would like it better if they stuck with the original numbering system and call it a 35. 1 Simrad in the entire dash? Give me at least a couple analog gauges. 2 techs at a min. Engine hatch needs some design. Not all white. My guess it will be $300k. |
Tough crowd. I think it looks pretty damn nice, I'd be happy to own it. :) Personally, I prefer a few gauges Vs Garmin displays and front seats look a bit high in the pictures, may look different seeing the real thing. If I recall correctly, there was a new 35' with 496's sold to a guy on here late last year. Predominantly red and white colors and it was advertised at 189k which sounded sensible to me. I don't know what the Merc Racing engines add to that but I still think it's a nice looking boat RR |
not bad, like the seats just not the diamond pattern, and the dash looks goofy.... need a bigger display and drop the switches down. I have seen a few newer baja's and the rigging is night and day nicer from the day they left ohio.. wish my 08 30OL looked as good as some of the newer ones...

Bill Day has the boat at his dealership in Ky. Asking price is 249,500 with 520's. He is looking at adding 2 smartcraft gauges (one on each side of the Simrad) . Here they were doing some photoshipping and getting feedback on the idea.

Looks so much better with the gauges and I'm sure whoever buys the boat will enjoy being able to see the tach and other info for each engine. Still prefer a large display with the accessory buttons down below
$265K with trailer isn't bad for a boat with blue motors in it. |
I could never operate a boat with split trans/throttles. Many times I put it in gear, blip the throttle and take it out once its back at idle all without taking my hand off the wheel. I cant imagine having to go back in forth to the wheel with both hands. |

I've heard that docking is a lot easier especially backing. Turn around and stand in the doorway and shift with your left hand. Glad to see this one sold and they have another one with 540's on order. I'd like to have a few options to choose from when I upgrade in 10 years.lol

Sad to see that this is the new 36 Outlaw IMO...
Why didn't they use the old 36 hull that rode great & just use the new materials that are available now to make it better & make it a stepped hull??? The 35 hull rides like **** in the rough waters according to the people I talked to last year that owned them at LOTO. I was looking at one that was for sale there at LOTO & 2 different current owners of 35s talked the Wife & I out of it because of ride & lack of performance out of the hull... |

In my opinion the new 36 was a "feeler" boat to see if it would sell in today's market .. And will, Bill Day sold it in 2 weeks with snow on the ground!!! So there is a market for it. |
