Anyways in all seriousness probably moving on from fountain but will keep it on the list as you never know what deals pop up that you cant say no to. 33 outlaw is only 500bs heavier than my twin 29 fountain, so really the same boat to haul around.

When I had my fountain I switched from drum to disc on the trailer made a world of a difference, could even take it further with E over H if needed. but with that said with an adequate half ton, fully functioning trailer and safe driving habbits, I'm 100% confident in what a half ton can do. Sometimes I think bigger trucks make people over confident and gives them misconceptions what they can actually do as well.

I pulled my 33OL one time four hours to Table rock with a 1/2 ton the last hour was in hills with grade..........never again.........wait till you're passing a semi on a turn and he starts sucking you over towards his trailer and there's nothing you can do about it besides get on the brakes.....1/2 ton chassis is not adequate for pulling a 33OL I don't care who makes it. but some folks have to find out the hard way.

Upgrade to a 3/4 ton, buy the 33ol.......you'll luv the boat

always that one time and what ifs. A lot of guys don't accurately understand really what their trucks of any size can and cant do. 3/4 ton diesels of the 90s and early 2000s were hauling these same boats, only thing is todays half tons are rated higher and more heavy duty in just about every way, so its matter of perspective I guess. Either way looking forward to getting into another boat here in the next 12-24 months excited for it to happen.

These conversations always make me feel good about what I two. With a 2005 2500hd 6.0 and I tow a 242ls with good working disc brakes on the trailer. I want to do EOH next for the added bonus. I'm looking for a another truck and wont even think of 1500. Better to have to big of a truck in my opinion.

good working and maintained equipment is smart and equipment that you are confident with. But a 4k boat personally wouldn't entertain hauling with a 3/4 ton truck, especially a gasser. No real advantage on a load that light.

almost 50 post on this thread and you're buying in two years, Im sure the 1/2 ton will be rated for a 43 Black Thunder by that time.

I see crazier stuff from those in 1/2 tons from being overburdened. I'm towing 9500 lbs. with an (stock) '08 F350 4X4 supercab, never need 4x4 at the ramp nor to pull the boat off a saturated weeded lot, it's that capable. I much rather have a plethora of reserve than always be strung out.

In comparison when I first purchased the boat I had an '06 F-250 Gasser 2wd all stock as well. Forget getting it in and out of the storage lot when dry, wheel hop in reverse and forward. I can't imagine the nightmare when wet and never even attempted it at the ramp. At that point I knew I at least needed 4wd.

I'm not saying a 3/4 ton will or won't be necessary, but don't be surprised if it is.
