I've Been Busy
1 Attachment(s)
The wife gave me all weekend to work on the boat.
Well, I got both seawater pumps rebuilt. I have 74 hours on the 36, and anyone that says they should not be rebuilt every season is crazy. Mine looked worse than usual and I blame that on two trips in shallow Florida waters. Changes the oil in the fuel pumps, put new two piece fittings on the fuel lines to make removal easier next time. Then I added a red bezel behind each hour meter. Added a Billet flame arrester to each engine. Added a Gaffrig Monster GPS Speedo with Tattle Tale switch. And finally added two water pressure gauges with the deck mount Gaffrig guage mounts. I'm tired! If I had to make a living doing this, I could only hope I would be paid by the hour. Tell me what you think. |

Chris,
Thanks, I wish these upgrades did more than make me feel good. The sea water pumps and fuel pumps are made together on the 500 EFI's. You remove two bolts and the fuel pump comes off. It get a good inspection, you refill with 90 weight gear oil about half full, and put a new gasket on. There are some pictures of this procedure in the how to forum that OSO did a while back. Take care Mark |
Dock,
The upgrades and additions look great! I especially like the angled bezels for the water pressure gauges. Very trick looking! It's a good feeling, isn't it? |
MAKDADDY,
Thanks, and yes they do make them for the 454 also. Chris is right on with the link. I first called Vortech, and actually they acted as though they did not want to sell these and gave me a list of dealers. The cool thing for us is that our boat is documented with "Tombstone, Arizona" as the port of call. So when I found out the Arizona Speed & Marine had there name on them, it was perfect. The nice thing with these is they to not move or bend. On the factory ones, it you are in the engine compartment and lean against them you could crush the element. These are SOLID. Thanks for pointing out my spelling error!:D Chris, We took a long hard look at the 342 also before we bought. They are a very nice boat and one I would be proud to own. You need to go for it. The is a very nice looking boat. It will open up new worlds for you if you don't mind trailering around. Daze, "Yes It Is":D How's the weather down there in the sunshine state? It has been raining VERY hard here for two days. We are now under flash flood warnings. Take care guys |
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. That looks awesome man ,you did a great job.

Looks great.
I love doing my own work too. I agree the water impellers should be changed often. I need to change my dash as well. Maybe a spring project. |
Dock, I must say you have the 36 looking good!!!!

Mark
I just notice how close your reserves are to the oil filter .Will those mods work with that being so close? |

Re: I'd love to have these bad boyz
Originally posted by GottaHaveIt http://n5cwm.dynip.com/342-baja-525sc.jpg They're in a 1999 Baja 342 Boss that's for sale in Austin TX. If I could afford a 2 Karat diamond then I'd get the boat! (my wife says I can have the 342 if she gets a bigger diamond). :D You gotta use your head on this one. If I had a 342 for sale, I would through in a ring to make the deal. Boat and ring all in one deal, you and the wife both happy. Guy sells boat! win, win, win, win, win, win:D |
