96 baja 272 Islander motor hatch upgrade
 

I am looking for some info on anyone who has replaced or upgraded motor hatch actuator. Mine is slow, and it draws so much it kills Radio when hit open and close. I would like to know if any one has any part numbers of good repalcements

I had this same issue on my 272. I wonder if it is by design?

The wires are way too small for that hatch motor and not designed very well. The trim tabs would kill my radio as well.

I mounted a winch relay (it’s double pole and heavy duty) on the transom and used the hatch wires as the trigger. Then ran 10g wires from the battery through the relay to the actuator. It now flies three times as fast and doesn’t kill the rest of the system.

I ended up putting a bank of relays in the bilge and ran battery power straight to all things important like the ignition, fuel pump, fuel injection, stereo, etc. I’m running a crate engine so it was just way better to go this route, but the single winch relay will solve your issue.
