I didn't want to get anything started but some of my observations:
1. The dash panels look badly yellowed and the gauge needles are faded. This would indicate lots of exposure out in the sun. 2. The cabin carpet looks like it's had tons of foot traffic and possibly even some water damage. 3. Rust is visible on the exhaust risers and flame arrestors. This would lead me to believe there is much more corrostion present the the engine room - like on all the wiring for example. Just my observations based on 7 or 8 photos. Hardly an acurate survey. |
Nothing wrong with your observations. See...you may have taught me a few things:D

Seems like a decent (starting) price based on the year / hours / HP500s.

The only way to tell is in person, photos are decieving. That' a good buy for that boat especially if it's gelcoat isn't scratched and faded.170 hours ain't ****, you can do a hell of a lot of clean up for $100,000 that's the difference in what you'd pay for new!
|
Just talked to the broker. The boat is a bank repo and they will let it go real cheap. He said most of the hours are salt water. No records of maintenance. Who knows if it was ever flushed out??? He said there is a multitude of things broke on it (handles, the stairs to the cabin, etc...) Boat was rack stored. If you could get it cheap enough it may be worth it. For 10 grand more you can get a fresh water 36 with probably some sort of records.
OG:cool: |
Maybe not so cheap afterall. If all those things are wrong with it, yeah, I but it hasn't been flushed w/fresh water either!
|
that's about the right amount of
hour's to have valve spring issues, mine took a sh-t at 180, and it was also a 1998 my .02 |
I still think if you were looking for a boat and you had time to get there it would be worth a look, you never know what you might come up with.

Waz with these newer Outlaws. Looked at a 2000 33'. Boat was great shape outside, then I got inside all the interior had all yellowed. I've always owned Baja's (3) and never had this happen in any of them.

yellowing
The 97's and early 98's dash and glove box panels were known to yellow. Baja changed the irradescent paint midway thru 98. Rithchie compasses still yellow (whats up w/that)????:( :(

My compass was really yellowed as well. I replaced it with an Azimuth unit (which has a nice full cover). The Clarion cover is also yellowed and looks pretty crappy. Probably replace it as well.
Access Technologies has some covers that look pretty good. Supposed to be UV stable and can be painted as well. |
The only thing turning is my radio housing, I keep the tinted lid down, but the white is yellowing,,, a whopping $20,,, I just keep forgetting till im in the boat !!!!!!
