Too quiet around here....who has the biggest.....

..........motor. Nah, pull you minds out of the gutter, the biggest motor in their Baja. CI, Hp, Tq, boat, prop, speed. Line up and tell all......NO INFLATED BS NUMBERS ;)

509 ci (502 punched .30 over)
520 hp, 575 ft/lbs/tq
24 Outlaw, 75.7 gps...may have been a spike though, 74.5 is a safe sure reading.
23p rev 4 labbed....gonna need a bigger prop with the blower I am installing this winter. This thing is gonna be a handfull:D

HyperBaja 11-22-2002 03:05 PM

i would like to see you beat this.

4.3 merc, carbed
190hp
?? on torque
spins a 14x19 to 5k.

yeah..

Oh yeah, Allan4, you said you were the biggest baja at the shootout, then luv-n-it said he was bigger, there was a 29 footer there, (complete idiot, i can outrun him in rough water he is so bad at driving...) he didnt seem to understand that the bunks need to be under water before the boat will come off the trailer...

Dock Holiday 11-22-2002 04:35 PM

I think Bajalion or Tank will probably kick ass on this one. I know i'm forgetting someone here.

My 500 EFI's aren't the most powerful, but they sure are pretty.:D :D :D

birdog 11-22-2002 04:44 PM

Just little 468's...........

Of course those 871s seem to help......:D

JaayTeee 11-22-2002 04:57 PM

1004 ci (502x2)
1000 hp (500x2)
29 outlaw SST
83 mph at 2002 LOTO shootout
84.6 best gps, lake 850' elevation
30"bravo's lab finished.

allan, does x2 count ?
i'm counting the minutes till i'm "trumped"

good topic:D :D :D

thisistank 11-22-2002 05:41 PM

I'm still a LOP!!:D I still haven't gotten the speed numbers or the right prop:rolleyes: Amyway...I'm sure theres bigger than my motor but heres the basic info on it.

Started as a Merc 525 SC, bored out ported polished blueprinted etc etc etc plus a super chiller putting out right under 650 HP total.

I know I need to get on the ball and get the speeds but I"m a lagger!!:D I just have so much frickin fun driving the thing I don't have time to get my gps all dialed in (Plus I have to find it first). But I do know its SCARY fast!! I need a bigger boat;)

WETTE VETTE 11-22-2002 09:01 PM

Not the biggest motor, and certainly not the biggest boat. Unlike Tank "the lagger" I have had the WETTE VETTE wound out many times and have seen a GPS best top speed of 97.8 MPH.
:D It was only scary fast the first few times. Put the hammer down Tank and give us some big numbers man. If I can do it in a 20' 10" 1990 outdated 210 Sport certainly the Outlaw can handle it. Just messin with ya. Take your time and be safe!!;)
A4, youre right things have been a little slow around here!!
Winter Sucks!!!!

Allan4 11-22-2002 09:06 PM

97.8....WHOA!!!!!!!

Gotta love this addicition we all share.....

Hey Tank, you pay for the flight, I'll dial that ***** in for ya....:D :D

WETTE VETTE 11-22-2002 09:15 PM

A4, we are all sick. I see you are going to a blower to get more. I have been considering steping up to a 540 from my 496 to try to get that 210 to 100 MPH. A bunch of sickos and here we are posting on Friday night. We need to get a life!!!:p

SSComp 11-22-2002 11:15 PM

I may not be the biggest or fastest but I sure do have fun!!!!

HyperBaja 11-23-2002 05:09 PM

Wette Vette, a 20 footer running almost 100? I want mine going a bit faster, what engine you got in her? how many hp?

WETTE VETTE 11-23-2002 05:19 PM

Hyper,
496" Chevy BB with a lot of HP!!:D
The Imco short shaft drive and the custom Spinelli prop don't hurt either.;)

Allan4 11-23-2002 11:02 PM

Vette, you make me feel better about trying to hit 80:D :D I figure I need about 120-130 more hp to hit 80. Not sure I will get that much power, I need to keep the boost down due to the high cr I am running. She's a littel 177 huffer, but should hit 78-80ish. Biggest cahllenge will be trying to find a prop to give the boat an attitude like it has now. Really drives well for a fast 24.

I say scrap the 540 idea and go for a 572. Basically just a stroked 509. You will have a 4.500 bore and 4.500 stroke. THEN............you will go 100. HeHeHe......;) Oh, by the way, it is now Saturday night, but I went out and am home now......am I still a loser? Plus I am watching the UC football game and drinking MGD. Hope this helps my cause :D

WETTE VETTE 11-24-2002 07:48 AM

A4, the cool thing about a blower is for those select shootout weekends you can fill up with some 110 octane and turn your boost up. I think you will be surprised how well your Outlaw will like the extra HP. If it handles well in the low 70's you should be OK in the 80's. Steering is the key to driving a fast V-hull. Chine walking is the inability to balance the boat on the V, or in Baja's case the delta pad. Full hydraulic steering allows you to make very minor quick adjustments which will keep her going rock solid.
You will have to go through prop experimentation again, but that is always a good time. I know Khadley and JDNCA 1 have a good number of props that you could try down there. I am guessing a 30 bravo labbed will be close. If you can turn it 5000 RPM you should be right at 80. As for being a loser I guess you went out so you are only a partial loser.:p

Allan4 11-25-2002 10:24 PM

These pigs have a really low X, so I don't think I will run that large a wheel. I wnat to trun about 53-5500 or so. Really a crap shoot for me as far as props. I better put a 6K chip in becauase first prop to be tested will be my 23rev4........Hhhhheeeelllllllllllloooooo Nascar sounding motor:D :D :D

CigBoat 11-27-2002 06:08 AM

Allen let me know when you are going to pull your motor I would like to help if you need any that is. I want to pull mine next year and it would be good to be around when you do yours.
I would also like to run your prop on my boat sometime since it is not going to work on yours anymore:p . I have been wanting to try one if I can turn it and you dont want it anymore I would be willing to buy it. Give me a call some time let me know if you need my number.

Allan4 11-28-2002 10:56 AM

You are more than welcome to help or just kinda hang out and watch. Not really a whole lot to it, just pull the drive and pull everything off that needs to stay in the boat. I usually mark all the wires and lines and stuff to be sure I put it back together correctly. Taking it out is easy, puttin git back in takes a little more time. However, I rigged everything last year to fit this mtotr, so the going back in process should not be too bad. I hope to pull it in the next few weeks, but after thinking about how much stuff I have to do, it looks like it will be after the New Year. That way I am not rushed, I can do it on an open weekend. I'll let you know, I think I still have your cell number, but you may want to e-mail it to me @ [email protected]. It's nice to have an extra hand around to hand me tools.....:D :D
