Roca Speed Rail

Seems to me that this, along with many other designs must have been tried by the Big 3 in the past. That being Cig, Fountain and of course, Baja!

Interesting concept. I'd like to see some real world results. In theory, I can see how and why it would work, but to what extent?
|
I can see it working but then again, not working. Creates more lift but more drag? Better handling for sure, it will grab water better.
Love to see real results... |
great concept, and theoretically should work. they have been using the same type of technology on airplanes for years, such as drooped wingtips and in some cases winglets.

May be a dumb question. How do you load your boat on the trailer without tearing them off?

Personally, I do not believe much of this stuff. Stearn Jacks, Speed Coats, etc., never seem to deliver much in the real world. |

You ever make the Labor Day Poker Run on Lake Texoma. Lots of big fast boats show up. Pace boat this year was clocked around 160mph. $500.00 entry fee. Purse is usually 50% of the pot, around $25,000.00. |
Powerboat or Hotboat did a article with test sometime ago, early in the 90's basicly they finally got them to work increased mph and plne time but they had to move them around from what i remember

volvo penta sold them as rocket rails. will smith from phantom boats had something to do with them as well.
|
Will Smith always liked this idea. He made his own and put them on our Phatom at every race. They never lasted the entire race in one peice. The screws would come out or the rail would break in half. Way to much load in the ocean for these things. Think Lakes.

We have installed these on a few boats. We'll be happy to keep you updated on how they respond to the different applications. So far, the biggest advantage I've seen is the price, they are definitely the most bang for the buck if you consider how much some of you will spend just to get those extra miles per hour.
They actually create LESS drag - more lift, more efficiency, lower planing speeds, less load, lower cruising speeds, less fuel consumption... it's all good. Keeping them on, well... we'll see. I'm sure this part will need perfecting. (When Gene first tried a set of them, he installed them on his Ski Nautique. Needless to say, everyone was upset because there was no more wake) Cheryl |
