new guy intro
I just bought a 1992 baja islander 180. It's been in "dry dock" for 9 years..
Over all it's in great condition for the year. However the engine is locked up. I'm thinking it's set seized. When the weather warms up I'm going to bore scope the cylinders and if there isn't a pile of rust I'm going to put some diesel in the cylinders and let them soak.. |
A picture is worth a thousand words!!
welcome aboard! |

We're all hoping your diesel fuel trick works, but... YAY! Another build thread! :ernaehrung004: Thanks. Brad. |

That would be fun! The 180 never came with a V8; the 180 hp 4.3 with a 4 barrel was the 'big engine'...so I can imagine a 5.0 or 5.7 in one!
Which drive is on it? Thanks. Brad. |
Gear ratio on the outdrive as well....
|
A 92’ 4.3 is most likely to have a 1.84:1 gear in it, less likely is a 1.65:1
