Step, no step, to me is, wood, no wood.
As much marketing as anything. I always laugh at some of the step hulls where the step is clearly designed to be visible from the dock. (Marketing) Yes if I wanted the fastest vee it would be stepped but, when and how often does it actually have an effect in the real world? 1% of the time you’re on plane??? Maybe??? What I read about the high speed spins is enough for me to forget about the 1% of the time that I would care. Being a vee bottom guy, I’ll take a straight vee w/a pad and be fine w/chasing you fast guts. |

I have owned these boats myself all I can tell you guys the 33 outlaw is the best ride and the fastest boat out of all of them, real honest GPS speed,
they all had equal 496HO engines with the exception of the 32 fountain it had 502 mags, it’s real life experience, I think I know the difference between a a boat that is capable of handling rough water versus a boat that beats the crap out of you but you guys carry on http://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.offs...b20a43123.jpeg 2005 33 outlaw http://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.offs...166e01808.jpeg 2000 single large step 502mag For the record, I would take a straight bottom Baja over a stepped fountain of the same size. All day. my point isn’t about comparing manufacturers. It’s about the simple fact a stepped hull is more efficient and current technology. That’s all. again for the record I OWN A NON STEPPED HULL AND LOVE IT. Lol |

Always felt the Baja Outlaws were the epitome or damn close to it, of what a classic offshore style go fast boat should look like. You couldn’t pass any boat launch in Upstate NY in the 80s and 90s without multiple Bajas and Checkmates being launched but I do agree the Islander series should be the focal point of an IO relaunch unless they want to get crazy with modifying the Outlaw series for OBs, but then your price point goes off the charts. Gonna be interesting. Good topic.

Retool the old school 24’ Outlaw, all composite with a platform bracket and a single Verado and I’d be all over it.

My 33 Outlaw runs great and will run high 70s all day loaded and now touched 80.6 with only 450hp a side!! Just had Brett lab my 26p B1s and I took the hook out the hull and sharpened the hull/transom edge! Only took out 2x’s but definitely need some more testing and figure out my drive height.

Is the Baja relaunch affiliated with Fountain? I thought I read that Fountain reacquired them recently.

As far as I know it’s still Fountain/Donzi/Baja. |
