H2X side panels

Has anyone ever had to replace the side panels where the side speakers and drink holders are in the cockpit? Mine are all cracked because the material there is very thin. I have already bought new inserts to replace the old ones, but it looks like it would take someone with five foot arms to get to the bolts that hold the side pads in place.(the pads have to be removed to get to the panels) or so it looks. The local Baja dealer says they would need $250-$300 per side in labor to do it. Baja won't do it under warranty because I'm not the original owner. I have been able to look down in there between the hull and the sides, and you can see the bolts, but it would take a 3 year old to get in there. Any sugguestions, ideas?

Not sure if this helps, but I was talking to my dealer one day about the side panels, and he said you have to take out the speaker and go through there with your arm to get to the bolts:confused: . Nothing wrong with mine, the conversation just came up one day, so I cant say if this will work...

mine are bad also.... I have a 98 H2X and I had to use some white silicone to fill in the cracks. Still looks like crap! How much were the new pieces? Are the better quality?

Thanks
Mike

The panels themselves were $80 each, and made of much heavier material.
I'm really kind of disappointed in Baja that they weren't willing to fix such an obvious production defect at their expense instead of at mine.
