I ended up pulling out my wallet and buying a gold membership after not being able to see Bajarunner's posted photo. We moved into a house 2 years ago. My wife and I budget $6000 to $10,000 a winter for home improvements last winter I finished off the basement, this winter we got furniture for the upstairs so I have no winter projects this year to keep me busy, this site is a Godsend, without it I would not have much to do in the evenings after work since we spent this year's budget on furniture instead of renovating a bathroom. I figured I would not be able to enjoy this site to the fullest without being able to see pictures of boats, so I broke down and bought a membership. I'm glad I did. Eric

Someone explain something to me. Yesterday I noticed that I was able to post and view photos in the General Discussion area but unable to post or view photos in the Baja Discussion area. Is it because of not having the Gold Membership that folks are referring to?
If so I will gladly pay for the membership. Heck, boat photos are the best part of this or any message board. I image if I were to pay attention to general notices I probably would be informed about things like this. |
29 Outlaw huh. Those are damn nice boats!! What's it got for power and how do you like it so far?
Dock Holiday sounds familiar, Isn't someone else on OSO's Baja called that or did you buy his old Baja? Hope you have a great year in your new boat!! Oh, and I just can't bring myself to spend 25 bucks a year just to see pictures that I used to be able to see for free. Call me cheap (cause I am:D) but I have alot of other places that 25 bucks can go right now (like pay for my boat ad on ebay:D) |
29 Outlaw,
I believe it only affects the owners forum and gives you access to the porn section too. The general forum should be uneffected |
I just read the link that BD posted above and it seems like my suspision is correct. I guess I will be forking over the $25.00.
I think I have to partly apologize for getting upset with OSO about the picture posting over on the GD area. It did not occur to me that OSO was trying to make it more of a paid privilege. I'm not going to give a full apology since there is still a lot of picture posting going on unchecked. I’m willing to bet that if I had been posting pictures of my new $400.000 42’ Tiger, it would have been OK |
29 Outlaw - OSO posted a notice that if you wanted to view photos in the baja section you have to be a gold or platinum member now. I don't like it, but I like to look at photos of boats that other people are posting. As for the uncensored section, I don't agree with it and I don't access it, I use a laptop that I bring home from work and I don't want that crap on my computer.
Red Stripe - I bought the boat last October it had the name Dock Holiday on it. I took it off and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the name. I am going to apply for Coast Guard Vessel Documentation to save on sales tax and I am going to have to name it. I just don't feel comfortable using a name that I know someone else has. Especially Mark, he is a pretty nice guy and I have talked to him a couple of times on OSO and I don't want to take away his thunder. I am looking for a good name if anyone can help out. My wife likes Livin' La Vida LOTO since we only boat at LOTO, but I think that name is kind of girly and I don't like Ricky Martin. Any help is appreciated. Eric |
Hey Big E,
I documented my boat with the Coast Guard. I didn’t want to put a name on the boat so I told them it’s name was “Baja”. Since it already had stickers on it that said “Baja”, I met the requirement for putting a name on it. |

29 Outlaw - I notice you have the state abbreviation and numbers and the state registration sticker on your boat. (on the front of your boat). Every state is different, in Missouri if you document your boat with the Coast Guard you do not need those numbers or the state registration sticker on the front of your boat, the Coast Guard does require you to put a Hailing port on the back of your boat though. By documenting your vessel with the USCG you just pay a flat tax on your boat based on the sale up to 50,000.00. Your state must be different than Missouri. Eric

Hey Big E,
I said I was in compliance for the name not the port |
