33' Outlaw Speeds?

What kind of speeds will the 33' run with twin 496's or the 500 EFI's?

liquid asset 02-06-2003 01:48 PM

75- 77 with 496 ho, 77-81 with 500 efi's

.

Those are pretty good numbers. I figured they were too heavy to run that good. Also, this weekend I heard a salesmen telling someone that it ran in the low 70's with the 496's and I figured he was probably exagerating and it would only run 68 or so.

CigDaze 02-06-2003 02:01 PM

A 29 Outlaw will top out at 77-78 with 496Mag HO's...
I would think a 33 will range a little lower at Low 70's; upper 70's with 500's.

SR-24 02-06-2003 02:26 PM

I'm going to say 74-75.

JaayTeee 02-06-2003 03:01 PM

Depending on the flavor of the 496,
high 60's, to low70's
500EFI'S, I rembember PBM testing
one last year, as I recall, it ran 79.

It also depends on the year, the X was raised 2and1/2'' for 2002 which made them faster , I have a buddy with 1 with 496 mags that runs 69, a buddy with 496 ho's that runs 74 in the heat and 77 in the cooler weather , and 1 with 500 efi's that runs 77 in the heat and 80.5 in the cooler weather, all speeds per GPS

H2Xmark 02-06-2003 07:10 PM

it depends on what year, I thought Baja raised the X on the 2002 and newer boats? I think Liquid's speed is about right for a new model, not on the older one's though

nomomoney 02-06-2003 07:59 PM

liqiud is right.i have 2002 33 with the 496 mags, best its ever done is 68.9 on gps with a half tank of fuel in cool weather.i run 26-4blades,can only get 4500rpms at wot.tried some 25-3 blades but they blew out bad coming on plain.gonna try some 24-4s next... hope to pick up at least 2 or 3 mph:D

liquid asset 02-06-2003 08:18 PM

NOMOMONEY is one of them and I'm sure the one with 500's will chime in to, but nomomoney knows the boats I'm talking about

I drove a 2002 33' with 496 HO's last summer. 3 people on board, 1/3 tank, temp in the high 70's and the speedo maxed at 75. Didn't have a GPS for verification. Great ride.

JaayTeee 02-08-2003 04:11 PM

I just got my march PBM,
they test a 33 with 496 HO's
ran 75.2 on radar, 74.2 on gps,
but, they have added a 8" wide
pad to the bottom for 2003,
other notes: 30" bravo's rotating
inward, max RPM 4750, 1/2 tank of fuel,
temp 83*, humidity 69*, at sea level.

SR-24 02-09-2003 01:26 PM

Why did the pad increase speeds so much?

JaayTeee 02-09-2003 01:47 PM

I would say, the extra lift it
develops, and to a lesser extent,
slightly less wetted area, now that
the original " pointed" keel is now gone.
just my .02

Just for reference my 2000 33 will only do 69 on GPS with 502 MAG MPI's.

GAMEMAN 02-10-2003 02:43 PM

NO MO MONEY Lab your 26p props with mercury labbed props your boat will pick up about 300 rpm and 1-2 mph. The bad news is they are very thin an ding easy and will probably free spin some until your boat gets on plane. As far as speed goes 500s are good for about 4-5 mph over 496 HOs, liquids speeds are right on as far as I know.
