25 outlaw or boss 275?

In our hunt for a new boat we checked out a 275 and a 25 outlaw
The 275 has a 496/375 hp in it with some options and thru hull I like the idea of a windshield, the outlaw is just cool What do you think you would do?

JaayTeee 02-11-2003 02:40 PM

What engine in the yellow 25' o/l ?

surfacetension 02-11-2003 03:23 PM

496/ 425 the only diff. would be instead of a white hull it would be yellow

JaayTeee 02-11-2003 03:54 PM

Then yellow it is:D

I did not vote in the poll because the above boats are so close in performance and size. It comes down to a matter of personal taste.

I have owned a 272 and loved it. I currently have two friends with 25 Outlaws and they love them. Personally, the wife and I like the Outlaw style.

Pick the one that best serves your needs and you will be happy.

For what it is worth, I saw the lowest prices on both at the Charlotte boat show last weekend that I have ever seen.

They had the 25 Outlaw SST and the 275, both with 496HO for $58,800 each without trailer. These are brand new 2003 models.

I know my buddy paid about $10,000 more for his 25 Outlaw last year with the 496HO.

Good luck

Go OUTLAW!

They have a better cuddy arrangement. Alot cooler looking boat. As for yellow I don't know about that. If you ever want to sell it, it will only bring you limited buyers. My .02 worth.

I vote for the 25 just because it looks cooler. I don't care for the see-thru glove box or the bulbous deck hatches on the 275. But opions are just like a*&holes everybody has one.:p :p :p

liquid and bikinilover's outlaws are sweet. That would be my choice

How about a used 29 outlaw cost should be about the same. Beware of the yellow very tough to keep as far as gelcoat goes lots of buffing unless kept inside most of time. Between the two go with the 25 outlaw better and easier resale.

I keep my boat in a building on the trailer except for 1 week a year, I love the 29 but with twins it,s much heavier to trailer, I,m going to the dealer this morning with my wife to look again,

They have a all yellow boat out of the custom shop Level One very wild !!!!!

Holy Chit man! That's very close to what I paid three years ago for my 272 with 502mag.

I would go with the extra 50 ponies. Or look for a 275 with the HO. That boat wants more horsepower.

I sold my 97 272 and bought a 01 25 Outlaw. The 272 has more cockpit area but the cuddy is a little-bit larger on the outlaw. The ride is much better in the outlaw, esp. in the rough. My 272 had a 502mag and would top end at around 64-65 and would start to get a little squirrely at top speed. My outlaw has a procharged 496HO and runs around 75-76 and feels stable as a rock at top end, no chine walk at all. Oh-yeah, and it's for sale, in the classifieds.

What are you getting this time? Any ideas?

CFD5 02-12-2003 10:33 AM

Do you mean new boat? If so, I am selling the Baja because the economy is kicking my butt!!! I think if I get a different boat I might go with something older and cheaper. I've been thinking about an old race boat to fix up just to get out on the water for the year. Maybe an old cat. Do you think I am asking to much for the Baja? I don't want to make any money on it, just need to sell it soon.

EvilTwin 02-12-2003 11:52 AM

Wow, the prices of the 275 seemed to jump. Maybe I just haven't looked at the prices in a while. I bought a new 99' 272 Boss with a 502 with a new Performance trailer for $50,000 even.

wonderwick 02-12-2003 08:31 PM

I just bought a 25 outlaw. I would look at the resale value before going with the yellow. It's nice when new but like others said it will only draw a limited number of lookers. White with the cool graphics or custom graphics in the 25 outlaw with the 500 HP is the way to go... But the 496 HO Mag will do in a pinch...

Sacandaga 02-13-2003 12:04 PM

Outlaw all the way. Although it is somewhat tight in the cockpit dept. Four people max. (and a cooler;) .

Depends on your needs

If you have kids and you plan on boating as a family...go for the 275. Just you and the wife with one child, then go for more of a performance boat with the outlaw. You will appreciate the room of a 275 compared to an outlaw, however, the outlaw performs in the water a little better.

I have a 272 I love. Have friends with 25 outlaw's and they love their boat. However, they always complain about the space. If you want an outlaw, with some space, then you better go for a 29!

Take your time and make a good decision and get a feel for the boat. Most boats will take a little time to sell! Don't feel ant pressure from sales people and their gimmicks! There are some great deals to be found! Take your time, especially now, I have not seen a better time for the buyer!

DTH 02-14-2003 11:28 AM

I agree with gameman, I bought a used 29 outlaw for less than a new 275 or 25 outlaw. I realize new boats are nice though. Happy hunting!
