30 Outlaw
I can't believe that nobody has commented on the pictures of the new 30 Outlaw. There are a couple of pics of it under photos, then under the "2003 Miami boat show" heading. What do you think?

I think the boat is incredible. It shows Baja's continuous progressive movement and positive direction. Lots of new features. The helm is set up really intelligently, I like the seperate shifters on the left. I can't wait to see performance tests. I've heard that it will be approximately 6-8 mph faster than the 29 with same power. Also, be sure to check out: http://teambajamarine.com/30Outlaw.html |
I haven't commented because it's hard to get a good idea from the limited number of pics. Things I'm going to look at however:
1.) Those bigs air ducts on the engine cover. I realize they are functional and may be a big reason why the 30 is supposed to be so fast but they look like they render the engine cover useless for laying on, dancing on, or anything else folks do. Perhaps they are optional and not required. 2.) The one picture of the cabin does not look promising. It looks like the forward bulkhead is very far aft compared to present day Outlaws. Just based on the picture, I question whether I would be able to lay fully extended on the birth. Also - the boat in the picture has the optional "military transport cabin" so we don't yet know what the regular cabin will look like but I'm concerned about the length of that birth. Looks Reggie sized. All the other styling changes look good so far but must be seen up close and in person. |
It didnt do any thing for me!!

30 in person
Did anybody happen to see the 30 outlaw @ the miami boat show in person. If so I think first hand info on your thoughts are in order. Did it have a notched tansom or a pad bottom etc etc? The pictures are pretty good but some first hand info would go a long way.

I went to the show, I did not look at the bottom of the boat I liked every thing about it but the area where a wind screen would be it was to squared off this is just my opinion that is what

We took out an 03, 36 outlaw with 525's and xr drives at the show. Very impressed with the boat. With 5 adults full tank of fuel she did 80 on the gps. We tested many other brands of boats similar sizes hands down this baby was the best! The boats we tested also where more money. We launched the boat completly out of the water on some big wakes, the landing was great and smooth. |
Chris,
I’m willing to bet you are correct about the absence of the windscreen. In that picture it looks like they turned up the top edge of the mold to serve as the windscreen. If that’s the case, then I now have 3 areas I need to look at in terms of potential issues. 1) – Big bumps on the engine cover. 2) – Reggie Fountain sized berth. 3) – Goofy looking concave fairing. I think they should have just taken the as-is look of a 25 Outlaw and made it bigger. That’s what I was hoping for. My jury is still out until I see a 30 Outlaw in person but it looks like they may have gone too esoteric with the 30. |
Originally posted by GottaHaveIt 80 in a 36 Outlaw with two 525s is smokin! Doesn't the 36 with HP500EFIs run about 72-74? The above pic looks like Baja did spend some time in the wind tunnel working on getting the wind blast up over the cabin. At first I figured the windscreen was not installed yet or the supplier didn't get it ready in time for the show. Now that I've seen the above pic I think Baja intends to not install one. I sure hope the speeds are respectable for the new 30. If it runs right at 80 with 496 Mag HO's and close to 90 with 525s I will be very impressed! :D I can believe that about the 36 with 525's. The 36 with 575's will run 80 MPH. I have talked to Fountain dealers, Cigarette dealers, Eliminator dealers and Black Thunder dealers about the 525 and they all tell me the same story. The 525 in high temperature environments puts out as much as the 575. They same the 575 when temps are above 85 degrees or so looses a lot of power. The 525 is looking like a great engine. Mark |
GottaHavIt,
Yes Baja did spend time in the wind tunnel with the 30 Outlaw. This is what I was told at Miami by one of the factory reps. They are also working with different layup materials to make them lighter and stronger. They are headed in the right direction it seems. Was also told by a Merc. rep. that the 36 Outlaw, that Merc. had there, with the 525s would run 82-84 and they had seen 85 on the GPS. Boat had just been done with not much test time. Looks promising as well. Considerably faster than my 1999 36 Outlaw with HP 500s. Mark |
RESALE VALUE
Sure glad to see Baja doing this stuff. I would think this should help hold the resalve value of our boats:confused: :D It is great to read about this stuff as well as be an owner whose manufacturer is "doing something" too
I BELIVE IN THE NEAR FUTURE OR FUTURE, WE WILL SEE MORE PEOPLE SWITCHING FROM THEIR "FAVORITE" LINE OF BOAT AND GOING TO BAJA! THANKS BAJA AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND RESEARCH AND TESTING!!! |

I have never been happier with anything more than the 36. You would have to offer full price for me to sell it. There is nothing else I really want at this time. |

Originally posted by Luv-N-It Ok Doc, I have a perspective buyer in mind...what is your price:D :D   :D :D "Show Me The Cash"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It takes a good year to get any bugs, flaws, etc worked out, and to get all the electronics, radios, gauges, sea strainers, etc, etc installed and ready. I still have a four man headset communication set to be installed as soon as the boat gets back from Florida. We missed half the season last year waiting on the boat, not this year. I am ready to enjoy it. |
ENJOY IT!
Mark,
Hopefully, we get to see you at the Lake Cumberland Poker Run! Especially with Baja being down there! Supposedly, they are renting a houseboat and will be giving away "freebies" the whole time during this poker run! There are a lot of Baja's on this huge lake:D Oh yea, like you need more freebies with all the BRAG IT UP CONTEST you win on Baja's website:D   :D |
Hey Guys, FYI.
Just wait until you see the new Baja Poker Run boat. 40 Outlaw, Trip 525s, and from the way Dean described them, awesome graphics. Unfortunately for me some of you will see it long before I get to. Mark |
The difference between the 575 and the 525 on the 36 outlaw was only one mph. The 30 will have a small wind screen they did not have time to install it for the show. Also the 30 is vaccum bagged which saved 200lbs. The 29 outlaw will be discontinued in next two years. The 40 outlaw will be revampted next.
