Storage Ideas wanted

Okay, I posted this question on the General discussion section and no one responded so I’ll try my luck here. :(

Maybe it is a stupid question but everybody’s gotta learn some how!

I want to put a couple storage boxes in the engine compartment but don’t know what kind to get or how to secure them.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Here is a picture of what I did. They work pretty good and functional also.

Wow, that looks awesome, Steel!

I assume that is polished aluminum diamond plate?

How is it secured? Did you use a urethane glue of some sort?

Steel Outlawed 05-13-2003 09:46 PM

No the bottom piece is screwed to the fiberglass with the screws for the hatch actuators. Then I just used self drilling screw to hold the vertical boxes and dividers. Worked out great.

Did you have that storage box made or did you buy it that way?

Luv-N-It 05-14-2003 07:16 AM

Nice job and great idea:)

I work at a metal fabricator. I did the drawings then we fabricating them in the shop. The only problem is you have too take out a lot of stuff to install them.

The Outlaw came with one storage box already in the engine compartment. I LOVE yours though. Looks GREAT! Good job.

I wish that I had room for them in the 342.
My old Force 320 had tons of room in the engine
compartment and lots more storage.

I bought an aluminum tray out of a Summit racing catalog and screwed it to the floor of the engine room. I holds all my fluids and works awesome. It is a 12quart tray. Be sure to tie down the bottles of fluids though;)

Where can you get the diamond plate like that, and can you bend it in a regular brake?

Steel Outlawed 05-23-2003 06:00 AM

It was bent in a 20 tons hydraulic press break. You can get the diamond plate at any steel or aluminum service center.

By the way I have drawings of these if anyone wants them.
