Has anyone.......

ordered a 30 Outlaw yet? I know there taking orders for them and was just curious what they are pricing out at.

JaayTeee 08-14-2003 05:15 PM

I'd like to, but I'm afraid:eek:

My guess, 496's, $125k

My dealer told me he would call me when they had prices for them. So far he has not called. I can't imagine anyone ordering one with no prices - or odering one without riding in one.

I talked to a guy at Hawkeye Boats in Iowa and he has ordered two for customers so far. One with 525s and SST package priced at $169,000. One with 496HOs and SST package priced at $139,000. He also said he ordered one for a demo boat with 525s, ext boxes, custom paint, etc... that would probably sell for around $200,000. These prices seem kind of high to me.

CigDaze 08-15-2003 06:49 AM

WOW
Does seem kind of high...Are these actual sale prices or MSRP? I can see them being MSRP but not actual.
I mean you can practically get a 33 with HO's for around the same.

Luv-N-It 08-15-2003 07:20 AM

I would think that is MSRP. I agree, why not spring for a 33 then.

bikinilover 08-15-2003 07:29 AM

That was the price he told me over the phone, what the boat sold for. They, Hawkeye, seem to sell there boats for higher prices for some reason. I guess they get it, they are a big dealer.

baja27 08-15-2003 07:54 AM

I'm truly surprised someone would pay that amount. For the same amount you can get a 36 with 525's and custom paint!!! Hawkeye prices are off the wall. My buddy traded in the 36 staggered boat for a fraction of what they are asking for it. I guess that's why it's been sitting up there for 2 years now.

29 OUTLAW 08-15-2003 09:01 AM

If they sell for $139,000 - I'm out.

I guess I'll wait till 2005.

JaayTeee 08-15-2003 02:10 PM

Hawkeye's treated me well on
both boats I purchased from them.

Yes, initially I didn't like the price quoted,
but, we got together.

It's all in the timing;)

Now that I’ve had a chance to think about it, I’m willing to bet that $139,000 price for a 30 Outlaw may be a sign of things to come. Given the fact that the 30 O/L can be equipped with amenities like air conditioning, galley, enclosed head, etc, it’s capable of competing with the 31 Sonic (29 Sonic if you subtract the platform). Although the 29 O/L could compete with the 31/29 Sonic in terms of speed and performance, it never could compete in terms of amenities. If Baja regards the 30 O/L as a direct competitor of the 31/29 Sonic, then we are all in trouble in terms of price. The local dealer here has two 31/29 Sonics in his inventory and they are priced at $149,000 and $159,000. Some may say “…heck, you can get a 33 O/L for not much more than $139,000”. Well, that may be true now but how much longer will that last??

Perhaps I’m wrong and the price stated above is a mistake. Perhaps it’s not a mistake but as time goes by, prices will fall. Bottom line – who knows?? In time, we will all know.
