~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Prop ~~~~~~~~~~
Check out my prop. This was brand NEW. This is what it looked like after just a few months use (put it on late in the summer). Remember, this is freshwater, and the boat is rack stored most of the time, other than weekends, and it sat in the water a week at a time here and there. But..............rust?? Should I email Mercury, or waste of time?
HOUSTONPROP 11-20-2003 06:25 PM
props have a very high carbon content and will rust,even if polished ,
I, will repair the blades and Mirror polish BETTER than new for you at a low price of 65.00 includes shipping. just throw a check in the box .
oh!! to your question ,I think you will be wasting a phone call.
you also might want to consider taking the prop off every now and then ,clean the shaft ,put a light amount of anti seize grease on the splines of the shaft ,so you will be able to take it off when you really want to.:D ;)
SSComp 11-20-2003 09:50 PM
Use some muriatic acid, keep applying and rinsing until the acid has nothing to bubble.
You'll be surprised how good it'll look once you get the mineral deposits off.
HOUSTONPROP 11-20-2003 10:37 PM
you might
You might want to keep it out of the rubber hub thats inside this prop.Darin:D ;)
Vyper340 11-21-2003 04:56 AM
try cleaner wax... mine are rack stored also but for use in salt water and they never even come close to looking like that. I do periodically grease the hub and polish and shine then with cleaner wax to keep them looking brand new.
TEAMBAJA 11-21-2003 07:52 AM
Darin, thank for the offer, but I'll probably just clean it up since there are no nicks or things needing attention. I'll keep you in mind though when I get a boat fast enough to need some work! :eek: :D
I just thought since it was brand NEW, and STAINLESS, it shouldnt be looking like that so soon.
SSComp 11-21-2003 10:08 AM
You'll be really surprised how good it looks after acid. I've used it for may years on the bottoms of boats etc.
HOUSTONPROP 11-21-2003 10:34 AM
TEAMBAJA YOUR PROP
ok, But look at the blade on the far left,to me it looks nicked or damaged, and if you look at the trail on the blade where it goes up the blade it is a lot lighter ,or has a streak,This is called cavation from a nicked or damaged edge,The end result could lead to a crack in the blade.
I do agree with you 100% that you spend that kind of money on a prop and they look like this ,if it was good stainless a magnet would not stick to it but it does,
anyway we will be here, when you feel the time is right!
And we will be glad to help you out in the future on a OSO member prop discount.
talk to you later!
Darin
;)
My best luck has been LIME AWAY or CLR ( calcium,lime,rust remover) does wonders, I do my drive,prop and tips every time out and they stay looking new. At least they did when I had a boat, hopefully Brian and I can come to an agreement on the 32!
Can't remember who logged in last (me or hubby) but this is Bonnie Outlaw.
First, your daughter is absolutely beautiful!!! Congrats to you and mommy. The pics are NOT boring...rather lets us get to know you. We take our kids out all the time and it's one of the best ways to bond as a family.
Second, when the time comes, Darin will do a GREAT job. I don't mean to turn this into a sales pitch, but he did our prop for us and he really knows his stuff. :)
105mph_38_2003 11-27-2003 03:39 AM
liquid asset...How old is she? Gottahaveits! daughter just turned 4 months...Maybe he will some pics here too:)
liquid asset 11-27-2003 10:09 AM
she is 13 weeks, thanks for the compliments, she rolled over for the first time on tuesday!
Teambaja, do you live close to Brian? If so could I get you to check the boat out for me? I'm probably gonna fly up in a couple of weeks. Or do you know the boat well enough to tell me if there are any problems you see. I would just like a second, unbiased opinoin before I fly up to check it out. If your close by we'll have to get together for a beer. I was also gonna ask you if you may have a purple wheel and white gaffrig controls if I buy it, I'm getting anxious, I need something to work on!
nomomoney 11-27-2003 10:21 AM
hey liquid,check out fastboats******--they have a 95 32 with 540's in it in the classifieds.it looks pretty clean-happy turkey day
He is about 45 minutes north of me. I have personally been on the boat several times in the past couple years, and its always clean, just like in the pictures. I have watched boats in classifieds, EBAY, and anyplace that sells boats and I havent really seen anything remotely close to this condition for that kind of money. Not trying to be a salesman here, just telling you what I know. I'll do anything I can to help both you and Brian.
You should have come last month, my schedule was more flexible. I started work at BAJA this past Monday, so its back to the working world for me! :o
liquid asset 11-27-2003 07:02 PM
Thats cool, I'll probably be down on a saterday
SSComp 11-28-2003 11:13 AM
If your serious about buying, maybe you should have Kevin Brown look at the hull. I really haven't found anyone else I'd trust in the area. Besides he always has some interesting boats in his shop.
Not to mention Kevin could probably tell him everything he possibly wanted to know about the 32!
Did you find a painter yet bajalion?
SSComp 11-28-2003 05:40 PM
Nope haven't found a painter yet. Need to paint the engine compartment no matter what.
I also would like to paint the rub rail down and the center of the deck (just where the indent is and graphics are) all white. I'd go with stickers for new graphics.
Stickers? I hope you are good at docking! :D What do you have in mind?
I never dreamed a thread about my rusty prop would do so well!
liquid asset 11-30-2003 10:12 AM
TEAMBAJA's prop thread is on fire !!!!!
