33 outlaw
ok you 33 outlaw owners, i need feed back on pro-cons of owning a 33 outlaw.. i am looking at a 98' with twin 502's let er rip!!
jc |
I honestly don't know of any cons!
The 33 has always been one of Baja's best selling Outlaw series boats. I personally I never ridden in one, but I have never heard anything bad about them. I have a friend looking for one now that is moving up from a 25 Outlaw. My 36 is awesome in ride and handling and I think the 33 is very close to the same. Good luck. |
How does the 33 compare to a 29?? is the 29 to small?

A foot on a boat is like a mile. The longer they are the better they ride in the rough. You have to consider the truck you have to pull them with, where you can store it, the overall cost, operating cost, insurance, etc, but longer is better! I bought all the boat I could afford. |
I got a '03 33 w/ twin 496 HO's and I love it.

33 outlaw
thanks for the input!!!
i am making an offer on a 98' 33 this weekend.... jc just sold my 29 outlaw (single 502) we go for the test run this weekend knock on wood!! |
JC, Just curious what kind of speed did you get out of that 29 with 502? what year was it? how much did you get for it? Thanks bob

29 outlaw
bob:
i would hit speeds of approx. 57 mph on a good day.. i sold the boat for $45K. jc |
57mph?? Gottahaveits! 25 Outlaw w/502 runs 68.3 all day, what would cause a 12mph difference?I almost bought a 33' Outlaw last year w/496 mags and truly loved the boat...But the dealer wanted $150k+ just for the boat with 60 hours:eek: They have the exact same boat still and now its $99,950. I loved the ride, acceleration, and especially the economy. The mags were good for mid 70's all day and the acceleration was impressive...just my .02 ;):)
|
I thought that was odd also? I have a 25 outlaw with 454 mag that will run 65 all day and 68 on a good day..
|
He had a 29 O/L with a single 502, not a 25.
|
29 outlaw
keep in mind this 29 outlaw in approx. 1000lbs heavier
than a 25 outlaw and 4' longer more boat to push.. the speedo in not that accurate. baja brochure claimed 60 mph new!! jc |
A 29 with a 502 mag right around 60mph is about right.
They need power to move. The 25 is much more efficient. I think the 33's are fantastic. Even Baja bashers have good things to say about the 33 Outlaw. Good luck, hope it works out for ya... |

Just bought a '98 33 OL. Only had it in the water twice before I put it away for winter. Love it. It is fast (2000 500 efi HP's) big boat. Mine has 4 bolster option that I love. Now I can actually bring freinds on board. I had a 29 Fountain that wouldn't fit 2 people comfortably. Boat tracks great, you don't even need the k-planes, lots of freeboard. If you can afford it go for it.

pre 02 with a 502 mag= 68mph
pre 02 with 500 efi's =77 02 and newer with 496 mag=68mph 02 and newer with 496 ho's 74 these are all gps numbers from freinds boats , I hope it helps |
My 98 with '00 500 efi's does 78 with 4 blade bravos NOT labbed. Was told labbed 3 blade mirages would do 80 but cavitate and lose mid range.

Bret,
Congrats! We love ours :D Mine tops out at around 74 (with 26 B1s), but I'm usually carrying a full load. |
